⭐️Member Spotlight⭐️

Karin Pearson has been a member of The Nook Leura for 25 years.

She joined in 2001 with cloth dolls which were very popular in the early 2000's. In the years since then Karin changed to making tote bags and has also added other items such as pencil rolls, book/tablet sleeves, jar openers, hot pads and her most popular item bowl cosies.

Karin's love of sewing first began over 40 years ago in high school with Textiles and Design classes. Shortly after leaving school working in her first job she saved up to buy her first PFAFF machine. These days Karin has a dedicated sewing area with multiple machines.

Karin joined The Nook Leura initially to "give it a go" as she has always loved sewing but says.. "I couldn't keep everything!" So being able to buy fabric, make it into an item knowing it will be loved by someone is a "win win." Not only does Karin enjoy the sewing aspect as a 'side hustle', she also finds sewing quite therapeutic and has made many friends within the co-op. Some who have left years ago and many who are sill there today.

If you are a Blue Mountains creative person who would like to find out more about joining a group of like-minded people and monetising your work ~ come in any day to speak with any of our friendly members. 🙂
