Every so often our Japanese craft group is able to catch up for the morning which is always a treat for me as It’s lovely to catch up with news and to share what we’ve been up too!

Yesterday we all did some Kogin-zashi with thanks to Yoko Sato for very kindly allowing me to share her pattern with my group.

*** June Workshop Update ***

As you know, our first workshop in Lismore is on at the end of this month - 27-29 June - and as nearly always happens, a couple of participants have unfortunately had to cancel. We've filled 1 spot, but that means 1 spot is available and we're sure it won't last long!

These workshops are definitely focussed on technique and over the three days you'll work on the most beautiful bag and have the opportunity to stitch with a group of wonderful people who all love sashiko. It's a win win!

I’m home now and back into everything here
. I wanted to share a few more photos from our wonderful tour.
We spent the best morning making temari with and her amazing group!

On the final day we spent time with shopping and learning her appliqué techniques which I always find fascinating. I enjoy watching her hands work and wonder at all the thimbles and tools she uses .. amazing

It was a delight for a few our tour group to visit Kazue san of .lab at her new Atelier.

A place that displays her collection of vintage sashiko and boro pieces from around Japan including beautiful samples of Kogin-zashi from Hirosaki.

Down stairs is the workshop area and shop also a beautiful space that has been renovated with care for the heritage of the building. A calming and inviting space to visit.

Opening earring in June. A must place to visit when you’re in Kyoto.
