Tudor Rose Glass Works Creative glass studio - Stained glass, fused glass, commissions, supplies and tuition We have worked with glass for over 30 years. Merinda Young

Starting as a stained glass artist, I’ve extended my interests to include fused and cast glass, painted glass, bead making and torchwork with some dabbling in the hot glass studio. I’ve studied with many amazing artists from around the world both in Australia and the USA. I love teaching what I’ve learnt and am learning. Our architectural glasswork can be found in schools churches and thousands of homes in Tasmania and interstate
I am pleased to share some of the adventures of my studio.

I had the joy of visiting the new library at Mona today. It was a joy to see these two doors with Rondels made by Keith Dougall at Poatina Glass Studio. We have amazingly talented artists in Tasmania.
Aaaand …. If you get a chance… go and check out Phrontisterion, the library at Mona

Over the last two days, I have hosted emmayoungglass and Rhiannon from Adelaide. Emma made some beautiful rondels that they then worked into amazing leadlight windows. We were joined by blackadderisabelle in the studio and we loved her generous creations in the kitchen. A sparkling, stimulating two days.

I love sharing my experience with passionate, interested people.

Last weekend had it all - Foil, Fusing and a new Fur baby. A good weekend in the studio.

Somethings are worth the wait!
It was such a delight to receive these photos yesterday. I made the windows a fair while ago. The client has been building their own home, ordering the stained glass before many other essentials lol. Finally, the day of installation came!
I have the best job and meet the best people.

Just wow!
Since seeing this installation in the first stained glass reference book that I bought in 1990, I have wanted to see this in person. It was made by Gabriel Loire (France) and is situated at the Hakone open air museum in Japan. Dream come true
Also get to see Picasso, Rodin, Henry Moore (galore) and sculpture and garden to die for.

Ps- notice the resemblance to a Hobart building anyone? They were built at the same time!

Any one for a feature wall? Great use of slumped bottles!

Another serendipitous find in Toyama outside a regional art museum. Interesting fused glass project on a large scale. Toyama city is very supportive of glass art. We can dream.

Toyama (Japan) is home to the Toyama Museum of Glass, and the Toyama Glass institute and associated facilities. If you are travelling to Japan put Toyama on your itinerary. The architecture of the museum building is simply amazing. Thank you to the fabulous glass artists we met on our very brief visit. I will have to return one day.
