2016 to 2026. Stay-at-home mum to butcher shop to Australia’s biggest food blog to head chef at a food charity. Ten years, three jobs, one very late start. Turns out it’s never too late to stop being scared of your own life. Follow if you’re about to start yours…I want to know your story.

Forty years of excuses. One camino walk. Now it’s every day, with the love of my life. Took me long enough to get here.

Sunset, family, peach daiquiris. Perfection.

Sunrise, yoga, coffee. Perfection.

(Dauphin Island is just showing off at this point.).

Apparently practising yoga does not mean that I never lose my s**t.

I can meditate until the cows come home, but sometimes he stacks the dishwasher wrong and I just snap. Thinking that’s more of a me problem.

It’s my second action that matters.

What I do after determines who I am becoming. Do I let it go and get on with the cooking?

Or do I turn it into dinner theatre…all drama?

Same mistake. Different recovery.

I’m trying to stop reheating stuff that’s better at room temperature. Like my attitude.

Five minutes for peace. That’s the whole thing.

It took me until my forties to work out that I’ve been doing a version of this since I was four years old, and nobody had to teach me.

COMMENT FORT and I’ll send you the guide — seven questions and the practice, printable, made to be written on.

Essay’s linked in bio.

Addi is turning 50 this year!!! Join us for the celebration!

In 1976, volunteers transformed a 60-year-old army depot into a place where everyone could celebrate their culture freely.

Today, we carry that legacy forward, advocating for human rights through food, services, care, and community.

Join us on Saturday, 17 October (10:30am to 2pm) for a multicultural and diversity birthday fiesta featuring local markets and entertainment. It’s our way of saying thank you for five decades of support.

We'd love to see you there. Register for event updates here, and stay in the loop: https://events.humanitix.com/addi-road-fiesta

Free to enter. All welcome.

1. I open my mouth and my mother comes out. And I like it. I’d give anything to have her here just one more time so I could tell her that.

2. I see ageing as the bane of my existence and also my greatest superpower. The sagging skin, the lines around my eyes and cheeks - I don’t recognise myself in the mirror because in my head I am still 19. Two years ago that same body walked a 35 day Camino alone and I’ve never been so grateful for it showing up.

3. I gave up a big job in New York to be at home with my kids for two decades and I’d make the same choice again. But sometimes I look at my powerhouse CEO/lawyer/doctor girlfriends and secretly hope their children are just a little bit crazy.

4. I still don’t have a real financial plan for retirement and that seems pretty irresponsible at this age. But I also have faith that God will give me what I need, even if it’s different to what I think I want.

5. I know a lot of interesting s**t but as my children constantly remind me, that does not equate to wisdom. I keep sharing anyway.

6. I get distressed when my brain farts. Today I went to add something to my shopping list and forgot it in the time it took to open my phone. This makes me forget how grateful I was at number 2.

7. One time I heard someone make a racist comment to a man in the airport lift and I said nothing. The regret has stayed with me for a decade.

Today my goal is to live one minute at a time, fully present…no regrets. Do I stuff it up? Absolutely. All the time. Will I stop trying? No way.

This is my table. I sit around it with friends and try to figure out the recipes for life. You are welcome here. Hit FOLLOW and pull up a chair.
