Building a home in regional Victoria means planning for some serious summer heat. For this beautiful new build in Euroa, our clients got us involved early in the design stage alongside the team at MAECO Builders 🏡

After researching options, the homeowners chose our thermally broken aluminium systems over uPVC for their clean, contemporary look and superior durability. We worked through several design tweaks together to get every single opening just right for optimal light, ventilation, and energy efficiency.

The owners immediately noticed a huge difference in indoor comfort compared to their previous home during the hot Central Victorian summer 🌡️🧊

Windows do more than let natural light into a home. They form part of the building envelope, so their construction can influence thermal comfort, energy efficiency, security and long-term durability. 🌿

For example, aluminium is naturally conductive, which means heat can travel through the frame. Thermal breaks are designed to reduce this heat transfer by separating the inside and outside sections of the frame.

Double glazing can also improve insulation by creating a sealed space between two panes of glass, while gas filling can further enhance thermal performance.

And there’s more to quality than thermal performance. Strong locking systems, durable materials and stainless steel flyscreens all contribute to how a window performs in everyday use.

In short, a high performing window is a complete system, not just a pane of glass.

A window upgrade can change much more than the look of a home. ✨

For this project, all existing windows and doors were replaced with our thermally broken aluminium double-glazed systems. The goal was to improve comfort in a west-facing home that became particularly warm during summer, while also allowing the homeowner to enjoy natural ventilation with added security.

Our integrated security stainless steel flyscreens allow you to leave windows open for fresh air when you are out.

Combined with careful insulation and weatherproof sealing during installation, the new windows and doors have helped create a home that stays cooler in summer, warmer in winter, and more comfortable throughout the year. 🏡

Not all aluminium windows perform the same.

This simple demonstration shows the difference between a thermally broken aluminium window and a standard non-thermally broken aluminium window.

With the outside temperature simulated at just 5°C, condensation quickly forms on the standard aluminium frame, while the thermally broken frame maintains a much warmer internal surface.
