Diana walked out of Kensington Palace in hers. I walked into a hens night in mine. 😌

My best friend’s bachelorette party felt like the perfect excuse to go all-in on this embellished silk velvet burnout — my own little revenge dress for pregnancy and postpartum.

The goal was to prove to myself that I ‘still had it’. I’m not just talking about appearances, but also or even more so, skills & expertise to create.

At least 10 hours of hand sewing went into this number, she’s extra in all the right ways.

Originally I planned on delicate spaghetti straps… but the velvet patches had other ideas. Way too grippy to turn through. A few of you suggested topstitching edge folded strips but I didn’t feel like that would be elevated enough.

After a few rounds of unpicking beads and sequins from the seams, the bedazzled straps were born —
the detail I never knew it needed. 💅

Pattern is the Bali Cowl Slip Dress — the drafting and fit are spot on.
Can’t speak for the instructions though as I didn’t look at them.
