Created with comfort and connection in mind, this living room by Larissa Perna of La Rous Studio offers a flexible layout that blends furniture pieces to encourage a warm, inviting flow.

Rather than relying on walls, carefully placed rugs define zones within the space, while lush greenery brings a terrace-like feel indoors. The mosaic flooring—crafted from irregular pieces of natural travertine—adds a nostalgic touch, echoing the charm of classic tiled courtyards. Sculptural forms and curated artworks complete the layered, thoughtful design.

In Avenue House, the fireplace and floor-to-ceiling sheer curtains were key design elements chosen to shape both atmosphere and function. The sleek, linear fireplace offers more than just warmth – it creates a visual anchor that grounds the room in a clean and contemporary way.

Framing the space are soft sheer curtains that stretch the full height of the room. These aren’t just decorative – they gently filter natural light, reduce glare, and help blur the transition between indoors and outdoors. When drawn, they maintain privacy without feeling heavy, and when open, they frame the view and invite the outside in.

Together, the fireplace and curtains balance structure with softness, bringing a layered sense of calm, movement, and connection to nature. It’s these considered details that turn a space into something truly livable.

If you're new here—welcome! I'm Miri, an interior designer with a love for joinery, thoughtful materials, and calm, timeless spaces.

I specialise in creating kitchens and bathrooms that balance beauty with function, and I bring a deep understanding of construction and spatial planning to every project. Whether it's a rendered concept or an on-site walkthrough, every detail matters.

Alongside client work, I also teach interior construction to design students in the US—so education and clarity are a big part of how I work with clients too.

Design notes from the team at

In historic Mallorcan homes, the foyer has always been more than a passageway—it’s the heart of the home. At Sa Boleda, Rock&Villa preserved this tradition, designing a foyer that seamlessly connects the entrance, main living areas, terraces and the staircase leading upstairs.

The original 1925 staircase remains a centrepiece, its handcrafted timber handrail beautifully restored to honour the home’s history. Underfoot, a white and beige marble checkerboard floor brings timeless elegance with a subtle, refined rhythm.

Anchoring the space is the sculptural Ray Console by Paulo for —a piece that perfectly balances old-world charm with modern craftsmanship.

This foyer sets the tone for the home that follows: quiet, grounded and deeply intentional. A true study in understated luxury.

In the STRETCH House living room, I wanted to create a balance between bold contrast and warmth. The caramel leather sofa anchors the space—it has this beautiful richness that really stands out against the matte black feature wall, which adds depth and a bit of drama.

To soften things, we introduced light timber cabinetry and ceiling panelling, bringing in a natural tone that warms up the room. The curved white wall with a linear fireplace adds lightness and movement, while creating a gentle architectural moment.

For me, it’s always about layering materials and tones in a way that feels intentional but still relaxed—something you want to live in, not just look at.

Black adds depth and impact when used well. Here’s how to make it work:

• Mix textures: matte, gloss, timber, stone
• Balance with natural or artificial light
• Keep undertones consistent (cool vs. warm)
• Use black to frame or ground key features

Every detail of the Champagne House powder room in Mt. Martha was thoughtfully considered—from the material palette to the proportions and lighting. We custom designed this space to feel elevated yet intimate, using different textures, rich tones, and refined finishes that reflect the overall mood of the home.

It’s a great example of how even the smallest spaces can have big design impact when approached with care.

A moody, modern kitchen from our STRETCH project features a ribbed black island, stone benchtop and concrete look splashback for an architectural edge. Timber ceilings and bronze toned cabinetry add warmth and luxe.

This space also includes a dedicated butler’s pantry, perfect for keeping the kitchen organised and guest ready. Would you include one in your dream home?

Designing a luxury kitchen is all about thoughtful choices—not just finishes, but how the space works day to day. I always start with custom cabinetry that fits the home (and client) perfectly, layered lighting for warmth and mood, and statement pieces like sculptural pendants or stone splashbacks to anchor the design.

It’s the combination of natural materials, high-end appliances, and refined detailing that brings timeless elegance to life in a kitchen.

Rich, deep tones are taking centre stage in interior design—think deep black finishes, gold detailing, and high-shine accessories that bring a sense of drama and refinement to any space. These luxurious elements add depth, mood, and a touch of sophistication that feels both timeless and bold.

As we move away from all-white minimalism, this shift celebrates personality and layered design with impact. Would you bring these bold tones into your next project? Let us know below.

Design Tip: Look to Retail & Hospitality for Bold Inspiration

Some of the best ideas for residential design come from retail and hospitality spaces. These environments often embrace bolder colour palettes, richer textures, and more immersive design choices, pushing the boundaries in a way that feels exciting and intentional.

Bringing that same energy into your home can add depth, personality and a unique sense of experience to your everyday spaces. Don’t be afraid to take a few creative risks. Some of the most memorable designs do.

Would you try this approach in your home? Let’s chat. (Link in bio)
