Watsonia project: kitchen & pantry

Do you have rules about how many people can be in the kitchen at any one time? 😁 I have been known to, especially at family events when everyone seems to be leaning on the EXACT drawer you need… but that aside, it’s the day to day activities that require more thought.

In the design phase we did prioritise dedicated storage for each kitchen apparatus, but importantly, the accessibility as well.

It’s important to consider how many people are using the space, and if it is a shared area - how we can best direct workflow to minimise accidents and arguments!

Current trends may embrace maximalism and bold colour; and while we are here for that, we recognise that it doesn't suit every client or home. Sometimes there is need for simplicity and timelessness.

Often, our client's direction to us on colour and style come as a reaction to the homes they have lived in previously; maybe it worked for them, maybe it didn't and they're seeking a new atmosphere. In kitchens, this usually translates to surfaces that are easy to maintain, promote good light and visibility, and of course have appropriate storage to keep most surfaces clutter free.

Whichever way you lean, our focus is creating spaces that reflect your lifestyle and feel beautiful for years to come. Be sure that your designer gets to the heart of what you're seeking.

Always keen to see what’s new from Laminex AU and GLOBEWEST … and their latest collections did not disappoint!

Something for everyone, from safe, snuggly palettes to bold statements. Both collections show an exciting direction for colour, and novel material application focusing on a uniquely Australian aesthetic.

We started with the beautiful extension designed by , and coordinated an Alfresco kitchen design to link seamlessly into the renovated interior. Classic colourings and materials for a family who absolutely love entertaining.

It's so exciting to see hints of spring growth in the garden.
Here's to longer days, outdoor gatherings, and a fully stocked fridge.

Macleod project going strong and looks terrific.
On our site visits we discuss everything from driveway details to the kitchen sink and problem solve as we go. Currently organising furnishings so we can avoid sheets at the windows on move in day!

Every millimetre, join, junction, grout line and caulk line carefully considered and neatly executed in our latest Outdoor Kitchen project.

Beautiful Sahara Sand granite in a honed finish is the star of the show. Whilst a robust and resilient material, granite does need a little TLC from time to time; a gentle clean, occasional sealant.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you are considering a similar space, we recommend you think about the way you might use the area before you start selecting materials, and whether you are comfortable with that. Our advice is always to research your cooking appliances first, and then design functionally around those important fixtures.

Outdoor kitchens seem simple enough, but when you get down to the nitty gritty, there is a lot to consider. Weather, power and gas, material suitability, cleaning, storage and cost. Important ventilation and compliance often get overlooked. It's enough to want to put it on the back burner (!)

Whilst there are some further weather protection elements to be installed, this outdoor dining space now has a functional kitchen where it was a simple opening. Materials were selected to complement the landscape and home exterior but more importantly, withstand heat from the freestanding BBQ and the elements.
