PSA: Taking a break from flowers 🌹

This year I will only be offering a very limited amount of flower related work as my family is embarking on some lifestyle changes that mean I need to focus on more minimalist work- unfortunately flowers require a certain amount of space, refrigeration, tools, etc that I just can't facilitate for the time being.

I am opening my offerings to more creative work including styled shoots very soon, so if you are in the market for some new beautiful images hit me up.

🌸 How lucky for me that flowers are tax deductible 😂

I have a little bit of a gardening obsession, and a dream of having a flower farm, even if it's a micro flower farm. The idea of growing my own flowers for work..just going outside and cutting whatever's been ordered, holy crap. Amazing.

Some tomato, zucchini, red onion and garlic as well 🤤

One of the fun and funky summer centrepieces from last weekend's wedding flowers🌻

This set featured: green anthuriums (some embellished with pearls to suit the alternative old school glamorous rockabilly bridal style 🤩) Sunflowers, Red pincushion proteas, pink hydrangea, peachy orange/ yellow grandiflora roses, orange and magenta dahlias, and some pieces featured pink peonies, green amarathus and pink celosia 💝 More photos to come!

I absolutely LOVE when brides want colour, and when they give me creative freedom I'm just like 😻💦

💝 The prettiest art supplies 💝

I love flowers so friggin much.

I got home from the supplier this morning and started the task of prepping, which I'm sure is probably some people's most hated feature of the job.

🪣It's slimy, dirty, messy, cold, wet, those buckets are heavy! And sometimes you get pricked. Lol.

Maybe I'm not all there or something but I actually really enjoy this part as well.

As I bring the flowers home, I can sort them and get to know them bunch by bunch, whilst stripping their leaves, thorns, trimming the sludgy bottoms and giving them a fresh and clean drink.

It's like a labour of love. You're literally preparing them to have the longest, most beautiful life they can have.

I definitely think it's an important and meaningful step to the process.

🌸 If you had told me at this age that I would be a floral artist and people would pay me to make their weddings, homes and special gifting moments beautiful I would've said "fark off" 🤣

📸 If you had told me that I would be making money capturing people's precious newborn, maternity and engagement photos I would've just laughed and been all uhh huh...

💫 If you had told me I would create this business all by myself without ANY qualifications or experience, I might've just rolled my eyes

✨ And yet… here I am. Pink/ purple/ red/ blue-haired teen me would be shocked, but she’d also be proud. Because every twist, every phase, every weird haircut led me right here.

Any time I'm designing, prepping, shopping for, looking at, smelling, giving or planning flowers, that's my happy place. 🌸

I'm gearing up for a colourful and fun brief this weekend and I'm sooo excited to pick up the flowers tomorrow, it's actually ridiculous. Feels like my birthday every time I pick up a flower order 😂
