Meet Leda ➰ Person behind THRU STUDIO
Hi, I’m Leda, the person behind THRU STUDIO every concept we create here in Heathmont.
When I’m not arranging flowers, I work as a registered art therapist in community services. The two worlds aren’t as different as they might sound. Both give people a way to express what words sometimes can’t quite get to.
Honestly though? I didn’t always feel that way. When I first came across floristry I thought flowers were beautiful but wasteful, pretty for a few days and then gone. Then I got invited to a workshop almost by chance and something in me completely shifted. I was just there, working with my hands, and the time disappeared. It reminded me of being on a road trip and pulling over because the scenery outside the window made you stop and actually look. Not because it was useful or practical, just because it was worth feeling. That was nearly a decade ago and I still get that same feeling when I’m working on a wedding (Yeh, we do get tired but I still love what I do)
The way I work with couples is pretty simple. We have a chat first, over Zoom or in person, no formality, just a real conversation about you two. What you love, what you’re drawn to, what feels like you. I find the more I know about the people I’m working with, the better everything turns out. I don’t do packages or templates. Every wedding gets its own concept.
My own taste leans toward garden style arrangements, layered and colourful and a little wild but still pulled together. It’s actually the style I chose for my own celebration of love, an intimate gathering of just 12 people that felt exactly right for what the day was. But having a style of my own just means I know how to have a point of view, not that I want to impose it on yours. The part I love most about this work is starting fresh with each couple and designing something that could only ever belong to them. Whatever your vision looks like, familiar or unexpected, I’m here for it.
Making it your own is something I feel strongly about.
Thank you for capturing these moments and for the beautiful workshop in Korea. Will share more of what I learned there soon.
