The Pleaty Lamp is now available.

I always thought this one would look cosy on the dinner table, and it does. It uses a double diffused bulb so the light passes through twice before it reaches you, which means it stays warm and doesn’t glare at anyone sitting across from you, but there’s still enough of it to see what you’re eating.

The shade mounts from the top rather than the bottom. That took way, way too long to work out and I’d rather not say how many attempts went into it. Most lamps in this shape use clips or wiring underneath to hold the shade up, and I just kept redoing the mechanism until it felt right.

The pleats run around the shade, and then the print layers stack up across them, so you get these two subtle textures crossing in opposite directions. It’s a nice detail on its own, but once the light is behind it the layers really start to show and it turns into something much more interesting.

Live now.

Warmly,
Aki & Pocket

I turned a 3D printer and a 1 bedroom apartment into lamps people put in their living rooms.

Hi, I’m Aki, the entire team behind Pocket Picked It. Designer, printer technician, packer, marketeer, and the person answering your emails at 11pm.

Every lamp, pendant, planter, and vase is made to order right here in Melbourne on my own printers. No warehouse full of stock, no factory line, just filament turning into something you’ll actually love.

I started this because I wanted homeware that felt considered, not mass produced. It’s grown into a a store with so many unique designs, where every product is designed and made in Melbourne.

Light July is here.

Winter has arrived. Which means so has Light July.

Year three of doing this now, and it is still our favourite time of year. Something feels right about bringing a bit of warmth into your home when the days are at their shortest.

And this year it is our biggest sale yet. The whole month, on everything we make.

Lamps. Pendants. Planters. All still made to order, still made right here in Melbourne.

So if there is a piece you have had your eye on, now is the time.
