🥰 The buzz and the joy from the chatter, laughter, and seeing people making new friends is so heartwarming……I may be a bit tired now but reflecting on the day all the hard work was totally worth it and so rewarding ☺️

Thank you to all that attended the INAUGURAL NUNO NUNO STITCH TOGETHER Gathering and HUGE thank you to all my helpers that moved furniture 💪, help set up the tables, bought along homemade treats 🧁 and who support me in so many ways ……

And big thank you to Melanie Hill for being my first Guest Trader and helper ……..and to Mark and his team at Holy Trinity for making this relaxing and comfortable space available each month for us to enjoy some precious STITCHING time 🪡

🌀+ - + - + There has been so much new stock and restocks of favourites arriving in the ONLINE store over the last few weeks……..too many to mention in just one post

One of my favourites is the SASHIKO PATCH MENDING COLLECTION from Olympus Japan 🪡 🪡 Six different designs printed on beautiful Tsumugi fabric that washes/fades away when you have finished stitching…..available in Navy or Putty………time to start mending with a restock of OLYMPUS and DARUMA Sashiko threads 😉

☘️And Clover Japan has done it again by designing more quality sewing tools to make the process of transferring patterns onto your fabric much easier…….and who doesn’t love a new gadget 🙋‍♀️

Firstly a WATER ERASABLE TRACING PAPER which you use in the same manner as Chaco paper by layering fabric (right side up) place the tracing paper on top of the fabric ink side down and then place your pattern on top tracing the lines firmly using a tracing tool/stylus……then when finished stitching your design you can easily erase the marks with a water bottle spray 💦

Secondly there is a choice of two new tracing tools……a versatile METAL HERA with STYLUS…..the small HERA is appropriate for detailed work, especially appliqué, and the fine stylus at the other end can be used for tracing patterns and to rip out seams…..this tool has so many uses in sewing, quilting, embroidery, paper crafts, doll making and more……

And lastly the DOUBLE TRACING TOOL has a fine tip and a thick tip stylus at each end for tracing embroidery patterns with tracing paper onto fabric…..I love the design and feel of both these tools and can’t wait to put them to use 🪡

These new sewing tools and paper have been added to the large range of MARKING TOOLS that stocks in the ONLINE STORE…….
has all your tracing, marking, and mending needs covered 😃

All these will be available in my POP UP shop next Saturday 6th June at the NUNO NUNO Stitch Together Monthly Gathering 🫶

For any one who may be interested.

The Doll Hospital in Claremont Avenue, Malvern is believed to be the oldest of its kind in Australia, with roots dating back to 1882. It specialises in the authentic restoration of antique toys, teddy bears, and all types of dolls and 600-800 are restored each year.

It was originally established in the Royal Arcade in Melbourne in 1882 by the Dallaway family. It remained in the family for three generations, operating out of various locations across Melbourne, including Brunswick and Melbourne Central.

The title and business were acquired by Trish Withers in the late 1980s, before changing hands again to its current owners, Charles Philipp and Anne Weerdenburg. They relocated the hospital to Malvern.

Sadly the hospital is closing, although they are continuing with repairing teddies and restoring ceramics.

Japanese culture is experienced world wide 🎏🇯🇵❤️

Have you ever come across a koinobori? They are the colourful carp-shaped streamers flown outside homes and public places in Japan to mark ‘Kodomo no Hi’ — Children’s Day.

The carp is an important symbol in Japanese culture, representing strength, courage, and perseverance. It is linked to the story of a carp swimming upstream and becoming a dragon — a beautiful reflection of growth, resilience and possibility.

‘Kodomo no Hi’ is a celebration of childhood, family, happiness, wellbeing, and the hope that children will grow strong in body, mind, and spirit. Like so many cultural traditions, it brings people closer by reminding us of what matters most.

For the first time, is celebrating this significant day on Saturday 9 May, inviting families to experience a Japanese tradition centred on children, connection and shared wellbeing.

For many local families, Peninsula Hot Springs has long been part of the rhythm of life on the Mornington Peninsula. A place to slow down, reconnect, bathe, wander, talk, play and spend time together without the usual distractions.

Is no secret that Peninsula Hot Springs played a meaningful part in our decision to move to The Pen. Over the years, it has become a central wellbeing ritual for our family — one that has given us many memories with our children, and many moments of connection we still hold close and continue to enjoy.

So if you have never been, or have often thought about taking your children, this Saturday feels like a beautiful opportunity.

A celebration of childhood and family and a little piece of Japan, right here on the Peninsula.
