Artist’s Story

Hello. This is my story. I come from a family who did not value or support my connection to art making. I have fought throughout my life to find the confidence to call myself an artist. My less-than-great mental health has constantly held me back, and almost beaten me from time to time. But no matter how hard it has been, I have always had a drive to create.

I first created with textiles and music, then theatre, some drawing and painting, and now ceramics. This is the trajectory that has led me to where I am today. Each with varying degrees of success and failure. I also restore pipe organs as my day job, which has its own special brand of creative practice!

I am most interested in art in everyday life. Coming from my unsupportive family, I am fine tuned to those around me who say they are ‘not creative’. I feel sad when I hear this, and seek out ways to try to give people some confidence to find their lost creative spark they had as a child. In some small way, I hope that by people owning and using my ceramic pieces, I am reconnecting them with that spark we all possess.
