Soooo... this just happened.
I managed to get both my entries completed and dropped off in time. Yay to me, the fact that I managed to enter something is definitely reward enough.
1. My scrappy apron, First prize in the Novice repurposed fashion category. Made from the zillions of leftover scraps from past projects and lined with a Chupa Chup doona cover I picked up at an op shop. I used the free Tessuti apron pattern and modified it to suit my design. It certainly fit the brief. What a thrilling discovery to find that I had won. Judges comments were "High degree of technical skill". Only down-side - mine was the only entry in that category. A win is a win I suppose.
2. My Star Wars cross body bag. Using my tried and tested pattern from Core Fabrics. I'd been sitting on the fabric (star wars and denim) from The Fabric ReStore by Creative Community Space for a couple of years now, waiting for the right opportunity. This was entered into the open "We love bags" category and was one of 12 entries. No prizes there, not even a commendation. Received a "Work is well finished" from the judges. Just a tad disappointed in where they chose to display it. See if you can find it in the photos.
All in all, it was a great experience and will most likely have another crack next year. No more novice entries for me.
Many thanks to Danelle for coming on the adventure with me.
