This is where I make my lace. Spare bobbins, threads , scissors and my pincushion can usually be found on the desk besides my lace table. The entertainment provider is located either on my phone in the form of an audio book or on the laptop as a webinar. How do you entertain yourself when doing repetitive tasks?

Come and see a contemporary bobbin lace exhibition. It shows a way of taking bobbin lace into a more contemporary space. In my work I am combining techniques, in this case bobbin lace and embroidery.

Some of the pieces are made from what could be described as non traditional fibres like wool and other wool mixes.

I will be making in the gallery today so come along and bring your questions

The images show elements of the exhibition and some details. I have included a couple of my wearable lace art vest inspired by rainbows

An opportunity to view bobbin lace in person. Like in other parts of the world, this is an endangered craft - meaning there is no formal training program available for those who are interested and you need to find your own way.

There are opportunities to attend workshops but it can be very disjointed in their availability and subject.

If you would like to have a go at bobbin lace, I am teaching 2 taster workshops on Sunday 6th September. Bookings can be made at the Artemisia website
