Cumbia, the Sydney Opera House and a beautiful celebration of our Latin American heritage. What a weekend at Mi Casa, Tu Casa! 🇨🇴🇦🇺

One of my favourite moments was connecting with our Latin community and hearing your stories.

One of the most beautiful moments was hearing how our handcrafted products brought back childhood memories. 🥹❤️

From the iconic Sombrero Vueltiao and traditional La Chamba black clay to the colourful cardigans from Ecuador that so many of us wore as children.

We celebrated the delicate Iraca palm weaving from Sandoná and introduced many visitors to the beauty of Fique Agave, now transformed into stunning light shades and rugs.

Every conversation was a reminder of how deeply our traditions connect us to our roots.

And seeing so many of you take home a little treasure of Colombian culture was incredibly special. 🇨🇴❤️

These conversations remind me why Casa Bonita exists: to preserve our cultural heritage, celebrate traditional craftsmanship and empower the women Artisans keeping these traditions alive.

Hoja de plátano, meaning plantain leaf, is an Artisan technique that transforms natural leaves into beautifully structured products.

Artisans braid the plantain leaf, then carefully sew the braids together, row by row, shaping handbags, lampshades and baskets. The remarkably precise stitching creates a seamless finish, highlighting the natural texture and intricate craftsmanship.

This collection has been a particular favourite among our Brisbane customers, who appreciate its distinctive texture, elegant forms and exceptional attention to detail.

Handcrafted from Iraca palm by women Artisans in Sandoná, Colombia, this Australian favourite brings together two countries through creativity, culture and craftsmanship.

I’m wearing mine as a brooch, and it can also be made as a keyring charm. A little collectible with a beautiful story, celebrating Australia while supporting women’s livelihoods and preserving Colombian weaving traditions. 💚
