There’s something about being at the studio when it’s raining. The sound of rain on the roof over the hum of the wheels, the humid air, sipping a steaming hot tea. Maybe I’m just a sucker for white noise.

Join us this Friday evening for an after work wind down session in our beautiful studio space!

Our Friday night Clay & Sip is all about switching off, getting creative and regulated in a super chilled environment.

Spend a couple of hours with your hands in clay, chatting, creating and enjoying a slower pace. No experience needed, no pressure to make anything perfect. Just a relaxed evening doing something different.

🎄 Christmas pottery is back at Santai!

Fancy making your own little collection of handmade Christmas decorations this year?

Think cute Christmas trees, tiny gingerbread people, reindeer, stars, snowmen or whatever festive creations you can dream up!

In this relaxed 1.5-hour class, Nina will show you how to make and decorate your own Christmas ornaments and trinkets using clay. We’ll have plenty of ideas to inspire you, but you’re welcome to get creative and do your own thing.

We’ll glaze and fire everything afterwards, ready for you to collect in time for Christmas. Perfect for your own tree or as handmade gifts!

If you’ve been into the studio lately you may have noticed the little creatures, dudes, and monsters seem to be multiplying! I do not really know where they come from but every time I see one they make my day 😍

What do people make at Studio Time Tuesdays?

Platters, plant pots, tiles, sculptures, dinnerware, totem poles, mugs, random little creatures, Christmas presents - whatever idea they’ve turned up with that week.

You can handbuild, or jump on a pottery wheel and have a go. Guaranteed nice people, maybe a studio cat, and if I’m there (Ash) I’ll make you a cup of tea 😉

👹 MONSTER MADNESS is coming to Santai!

Create your own weird and wonderful little clay monster! Your teacher will guide you through designing and hand-building a creature full of personality - think horns, warts, tails, wings, scales, extra eyeballs and whatever else your imagination comes up with. It can be terrifying or adorable, it’s up to you!

📅 Wednesday 23 September
⏰ 10am or 2pm sessions
🏺 1.5 hour guided pottery class
👹 Ages 8+ kids, teens & adults welcome
💵 $60 per participant
🎨 Clay, coloured underglazes & firing included
🙌 No pottery experience needed

Taught by local artist & ceramicist Nina Denning. Finished monsters ready to collect approximately 4 weeks later.

*note - you don’t have to build a monster if you don’t want to! Monster free clay play is allowed 😉

Want to learn the core skills needed to create your own ceramics on the wheel?

Our 5 Week Pottery Wheel Course is designed to give you enough time on the wheel to build some key skills like centering the clay, creating a beautiful shape, and trimming a nice neat foot.

Over five weeks, you’ll learn to throw functional pieces, refine your technique and start getting a feel for what you’re doing (rather than wondering why the clay has suddenly collapsed).

Beginner friendly, with room to progress if you’ve already had a go.
