When the user contacted Google Support, agents confirmed that the trilogy had been stripped from the platform's catalog due to licensing shifts. However, Google denied his request for a refund or a store gift card because the original purchase was made in 2022, placing it well outside the platform's standard 120-day refund window.

When you "buy" a movie, book, or game on a digital storefront, you are not buying the item itself. You are paying for a limited, non-permanent viewing license.

Incidents like this continue to fuel the "physical media matters" movement, as consumers realize that physical Blu-ray discs and DVDs are the only way to truly guarantee permanent ownership of a film.
