We love designing alfresco spaces that bridge the gap between the interior spaces and the landscape beyond.

At TONKIN HOUSE our aim was to provide a functional and beautifully designed outdoor kitchen which sat comfortably within its environment.

The material selection is robust and durable, quiet in its rustic beauty. We embraced the quirks of the existing deck, creating multiple spaces to entertain, cook or simply enjoy a solo cuppa on the bench seat.

Designed to feel like it was always there.

Unexpected structural post = impromptu dining nook 👌🏼

Good design often comes from working with the structure, not against it.

With some creative thinking onsite with the .group team, a post that couldn’t be removed became the framework for a new dining nook. Turning a constraint into a feature, and our client’s new favourite spot!

Concept renders Vs Existing conditions at current project WATERVIEW

The brief here is all about increasing natural light, so we proposed ditching the narrow splashback window (bye bye greasy glass 👋) in favor of two tall windows either side of the stove, bathing the kitchen in natural light and views out to the garden and pool beyond.

The bones of the existing layout are good, but our client wanted the kitchen island to be a gathering place, casual family meals area and comfy spot for a cuppa with friends, so we designed an arched table which extends out from the stone island.

Minimal intervention = maximum impact 💫

Hello sunshine ☀️

Lovers of all things vintage and MCM, our clients at PARVA HOUSE are not afraid to embrace colour and bring joy into their home.

The perfect spot for a morning cuppa ☕️

A galley kitchen layout can often feel like a thoroughfare. So we introduced a curved peninsula to gently interrupt the linear flow, creating a natural place to pause and enjoy the bay views.

Visible from all angles of the open plan space, we didn’t want it to feel too ‘kitchen’ opting for a statement terrazzo benchtop and mosaic tiled pillar, to create a conversation piece perfect for gathering.
