You don’t always need to move walls to completely change the way a home looks, feels and functions.

Our North Sydney Project is a great example of this. While the footprint remained exactly the same, thoughtful planning, a completely reworked kitchen, tailored joinery, layered lighting and carefully considered furnishings transformed the experience of living here.

In our latest blog, we share more of the thinking behind the project, including one of our more unconventional kitchen decisions, how we approached furnishing the apartment as our clients downsized, and where we chose to save versus invest.

NEW PROJECT REVEAL 🤍
Welcome to our North Sydney Project — where we completely renovated and furnished this beautiful apartment for clients downsizing into a new chapter of life.

The apartment already had two things we couldn’t improve on: beautiful natural light and an incredible harbour outlook. What it needed was an interior that felt equally considered.

Without making any structural changes, we reworked the kitchen, added thoughtfully designed joinery and layered in new finishes, lighting and furniture throughout to create a home that feels warm, cohesive and genuinely easy to live in.

It still has exactly the same footprint, but the experience of living here is completely different.

Creating a beautiful finishes palette is about so much more than choosing individual materials you love. It’s about how they all work together. 🤍

When we develop a scheme for our clients, we consider the balance of colour, texture, pattern and material, and how each selection will sit alongside the next. Stone, timber, tiles, paint and finishes all play their part in creating a home that feels cohesive, layered and personal.

With so many decisions to make during a renovation, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the choices. Part of our role is to simplify that process, bringing clarity to the selections and making sure every decision contributes to the bigger picture.

We love how much this transformation has changed not only the look of the bathroom, but how it feels to use every day.⠀⠀

We completely reimagined this space to feel lighter, more spacious and quietly luxurious. One of the biggest changes was introducing a skylight, allowing natural light to flood the room, while fresh contemporary finishes and refined tapware brought a sense of calm and simplicity.

One of the design philosophies I was reminded of in Copenhagen is that comfort and beauty should always go hand-in-hand. A home can be beautiful, but it also needs to feel good to live in. 🤍

Our South Coogee project is a lovely example of this. We wanted to create a home that felt warm, welcoming and nurturing, with sofas you immediately want to curl up on, chairs that invite long conversations and lighting that creates a soft, intimate mood. Warm timbers, soft rugs, gentle sheers and layered textiles all help soften the spaces and make them feel inviting.

What struck me in Copenhagen, and something I see reflected in this home, is that a sense of calm doesn’t necessarily come from having less. It comes from bringing the right layers together in a way that feels natural and comfortable.

Laundries don’t have to be a bore! 🤍 With clever planning and a little design attention, even one of the most practical rooms in the home can be beautiful to spend time in.

For many of our projects, we take cues from the kitchen, carrying elements of the colour palette, finishes and joinery through to the laundry. This helps create a sense of connection between the spaces, while making sure everything works beautifully for everyday life, often transforming a once-dull space into one that sparks joy 🤍

Not every home transformation requires a major renovation. Sometimes it’s about knowing where to make bigger changes, and where more considered cosmetic updates can make all the difference. 🤍

For our Mosman project, our clients wanted a contemporary, coastal home that felt fresh and elevated, but also personal and unique to them.

We renovated key areas, including the ensuite, while refreshing the rest of the home through a new colour palette, feature lighting, soft furnishings and artwork. We also incorporated pieces our clients already owned and loved, bringing old and new together to create a contemporary coastal feel that is uniquely theirs.

We’re excited to share that our Castle Cove powder room has received a Highly Commended award in the Trends International Design Awards (TIDA). 🤍 Thank you to TrendsIdeas for recognising this very special little space!

Our favourite feature in this room is the custom marble vanity and basin, which was repurposed from the home’s original kitchen benchtop (yes, really!). Rather than letting such a beautiful piece of stone go to waste, we gave it a second life, where it now takes centre stage as the hero of the powder room.

We’re so proud of how this space came together, and thrilled to see it recognised by TIDA. 🤍

Come behind the scenes of our North Sydney shoot day 🤍

There’s always a lot that goes into capturing a finished project. A car full of styling pieces, plenty of furniture shuffling, endless tiny adjustments and lots of checking each shot until everything feels just right.

This was an especially lovely one to capture. We worked with our clients on the complete renovation and furnishing of their new home, so seeing every last detail come together on shoot day felt pretty special. And with that harbour view as our backdrop, it wasn’t a bad place to spend the day either!

Here’s a little glimpse behind the scenes. I can’t wait to share more of this beautiful project with you soon 🤍
