I'm delighted to enter Charlotte into the rotary art competition in Brisbane! Just sharing the details of what's involved. This artwork is priced at $350, and the entry fee is $50. There's a small charge of 1.25% for credit card transactions, and the rotary organisation takes 35% commission on sold pieces. Now, I need to get it to Ann St in Brisbane, either by courier or in person by hand. The courier costs could be anywhere from $50 with Sendal to $150 or more with DHL. Factoring in all the expenses, my take-home might be $100 to $150. If it doesn't sell, I'll be out of pocket for the $50 entry fee, plus courier and packaging costs. Art supplies are an additional cost, but my enthusiasm for creating art remains unwavering. It's a passion that drives me, and that's what makes it all worthwhile.

Got the dress, 20 dollars from my favourite op shop.
Found it about 10 years ago.
This gown must be around the 1980’s.
It’s just a bit faded but not much, as it’s polyester.
The frill sits stiff and organic and it’s doing its thing to make the dress a feature. Wouldn’t normally wear yellow but with the pop of blue I can make this dress work. Hand made earrings and going to make some matching flower clips for my hair.
Hair style needs to be crimped which is going to be hard work on my super fine straight hair.
Wish me luck on the final look.
If any one sees a bag that would go well let me know. I want something different like an animal or flower shape thinking Kate spade !

Last night was a huge success. Thanks to these people: Jess, Sam, Ziggy, Amy, Imogen, Annabelle, Anna, Lainey, Eloise and Penny. Never having modelled before, they looked so professional and made the Language of Surfaces exhibition a great success. Last night was fun and I hope to do it again one day 🙂💐

Chinese Garden’s has been SOLD at the Bailey Crystalbrook collection hotel exhibition. I met the buyer today for a hand over and she was lovely. Christine drove up with her friend from Ingham, she said, once she saw my sculpture she had to have her.
I made a special padded box for her long journey home. She is just too delicate to send in the post.
In the past there have been delivery men pick up parcels from my studio and literally hand ball the parcel into the back of the truck in front of me.
The amount of strength I have had to find to stop my self from creating a scene of violence was colossal.
Beware drivers, I won’t, but one day if the wrong person sees this they are going to run out and slap you.
Anyway
Chinese Garden sculpture is definitely one of a kind and once she is broken she can’t be replaced.
Was very surprised at the opening of ‘Switch On’ how many people were touching art works. Even more surprising some were artists.
I’m almost tempeted to write a boring blog about why the general public shouldn’t be touching art on display.
But do I really have to.
There are serval reasons why touching art is a no no!
Acid from your fingers can discolour works with time, fingers can lift a medium, most art is not for touching it’s for admiring and the good old one you heard your mum or teacher say a million times before, you just may break it!
Please respect all art, this pieces would have taken 2 to 3 weeks worth of labour. Not including research and firing.
There has definitely been a derogation I’ve seen since visiting art galleries in my 20s to now in my 50s. Before I saw security guards walk people out for taking photos, while at the same time ripping the back of a camera open and exposing film. Now I see people taking their hats off and putting it on sculpture from The 1800s for an instgram photo.
The more sophisticated a culture is the more they respect art.
Putting into question are we declining as a society?
It’s been interesting observing the changes at the Vatican from my 1st visit 30 years ago to now.
