A few years back, I was asked to design a table for a client. This is the result.

The design integrates a tapered Corian benchtop, adjustable turnbuckles, and a footrest wrapped in denim.

Designed with restraint, crafted with precision, this table attempts to celebrate the beauty of less. Lines, junctions, and material selection have been carefully considered to create a piece that feels effortless.

A statement of quiet minimalism.

Happy Easter to you all.

Over the past few months, I’ve been working on several new projects. One of which is ready to share. It is a commission proposing a barn house on acreage in Lower Beechmont, Queensland.

The house attempts to take inspiration from traditional agricultural forms, reimagined in a contemporary way. Rather than a single large structure, the design is broken into a series of pavilions. The left is the main family residence, with the right more about storage and farm function in its various forms.

The materials are drawn from the character of the site with its native colours. Externally, weathered corrugated iron grounds the building in its setting, while inside, stained Hoop Pine milled from the site itself introduces warmth.

The layout is designed to stay closely connected to the land. Covered entry points, recessed openings, and carefully placed windows help manage light, shade, and airflow and outlook.

Hi friends,

I hope you are all doing well. This year has seen the commencement and completion of several projects, including an exciting collaboration with St Barnard's Hotel off Alpine Terrace.

A significant portion of the work has focused on master planning. This has included developing concepts for a new entry to the main building, first-floor accommodation, a rooftop sky deck, a reimagined northern outdoor dining area, and a series of new luxury villas on the right side of the property.

As many of you know, the building to the left—The Tamborine—has undergone a beautiful renovation over recent years. Drawing inspiration from its distinctive arches, I’ve aimed to create a visual balance in the proposed new works on the right side of the main hotel.

The adjoining land, recently purchased from the previous hotel owner, offers an exceptional design opportunity. Our proposal includes eight one-bedroom units arranged in two clusters of four, along with three standalone two-bedroom villas.

Hi Friends,

Happy New Year to you all.

Forgive me, I haven’t posted much of my design work on social media over the past few months. This is mainly due to an opportunity that has consumed my attention and taken some time to finalise.

Around October last year, I was introduced to a client through a friend who owns land in Sarabah on the way to O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat. Visiting the site for the first time was nothing short of astonishing. Firstly, the drive to get to the house plot was about 1.2km and resembled a hairier version of the Goat Track to Canungra. However, the resulting ridgeline and house plot were worth the trip with views from Lower Beechmont to the east, Lamington National Park to the South, and a western view to rival the Tamborine Mt Hang-gliding lookout.

The design brief was for a home that is half in and half out of the ground with the top story to capture 180-degree views. The result we have arrived at is a four-story scheme of glass, stone, and concrete. There are accents of timber throughout and of course, landscaping plays a significant role.

It’s an ambitious project. We are currently in the working drawings and engineering phase with construction to hopefully start around April/May.
