Who knew? It turns out that when you have an art gallery, opening it is a good idea 😄😄😄.

Today has been delightful and very affirming. I am happy to be here in my little creative space but sometimes I doubt myself and am not sure if I have done the right thing starting this little business. Today reminded me why I did. Two lovely customers came to Nambour especially to visit me here because they follow me on socials and saw that I was going to be open. One from Maleny and the other from Buderim. I get to share my own art and a mutual appreciation of art with likeminded folk. I am also able to add to the rich and diverse creative culture here on the Sunshine Coast. I am truely living the dream.

Opening Hours update.

The plan between now and December is to be open Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings from 10.30am until 1.30pm.

The from December until Xmas -

Thurdays 10.30am - 1.30pm and again from 3.30pm to 6.30pm.

Fridays 10.30am - 1.30pm and 3.30pm to 6.30pm.

Saturdays 10.30am - 2.30pm.

I might also be here on the occasional Sunday afternoon. I will be busy doing a refresher course in ceramic mold making on Sunday mornings for a couple of months.

This will allow me to have important studio time for creating as well as open the gallery.

News for 2027, I will be running a regular Sunday morning still life drawing group. Small group. Casual and chilled. Freestyle. Playful. Self paced. Places limited. $40pp.

The group will start early before the heat of the day sets in. 8am - 10am, 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month. Morning tea and shared art materials for the group will be provided. Additional art materials also for sale in store.

Opening this little studio/gallery space in Queen Street Nambour has been one of the most joyful and fulfilling experiences in my life.

Now that I am back from my working holiday to Europe, I am inspired, buzzing with energy and my mind is full of creative ideas. So the studio calls and the plan is to be at Rogues Gallery especially leading up to Christmas. 🙂

I'll be open this week on Thursday, Friday, Saturday 10am - 2pm.

Are we there yet?

Turns out that starting a slow fashion enterprise is actually quite slow! Between my art practice, gallery, family responsibilities and Moral Fibre product development, I'm spinning many plates but now I finally have some lovely Moral Fibre tee samples to work with. These are top quality, 100% organic cotton and in an organic bamboo, screen printed in Australia and of course the message is compelling, clear and simple!

They feel lovely to wear and will be offered in a range of great colours. If they wash well they're in. I plan to test them for a little while before making them available.

I don't have an official launch date for Moral Fibre yet. Website is under construction and I'm ironing out some details with the garments with my manufacturer. I have pretty high standards for this brand so when I'm happy with everything, only then I will launch. 😀

I love art but I am not a fan of the art world. The pretentiousness ruins the beauty. The "rules" seek to control what should not be controlled. This world is filled with self appointed gate keepers and art police - gallerists, critics, other artists, sometimes even teachers at art schools, should they choose you, seek to give you licence and endorsement as an artist according to their own definitions and imaginitive constraints.

Art is for all of us. It should feel accessible and authentic. I love art as a form of creative human expression and connection, for it's capacity to capture our stories and the full spectrum of human emotions. Depending on the intention of the artist, it can be challenging, thought provoking, heartbreaking, joyful, peaceful...just lean into it and let it nourish you.

I've been working on this flipbook brochure to promote my art to the real estate industry for property styling. What do you think?

It's definitely not as good as my graphic designer would have done but until I start selling a few more prints, I can't really justify spending a lot of money on marketing materials. It's a catch 22 isn't it? You can't sell your work without marketing and promotion and can't pay for really great marketing and promotion unless you make sales. Something to balance and tweak along the way.
