You have been asking the wrong question.

Fabric or leather is not really the question.

Who is going to be sitting on it is the question that matters.

It comes down to personal preference.

Some people love the feel of leather.

Others cannot go past fabric.

We recently brought a chair home that we loved on the showroom floor, but we do not get much time in it these days because it turns out our cat prefers fabric over leather too.

In the end, it really is about which one you like best, and the good news is you do not have to choose only one.

If you have only sat in a chair for eight seconds before buying it, you have not really tested it.

Here is why.

Eight seconds is enough to tell if something is wrong, but not enough to tell if something is truly right for you.

If it feels comfortable in those first few seconds, stay a while longer and that can change.
Our advice, sit the way you would at home, yes that is right, feet up, stretched out, whatever is your thing.

You are going to spend a lot more than eight seconds in this chair once you take it home, so it is worth taking your time before you decide.

Most furniture warranties do not cover the part that breaks first, and that is exactly why we choose the brands we do.

Warranties are broken down into sections.

The frame usually carries the longest warranty, and some of our brands offer up to 20 years on theirs.

Then there is the mechanism, with manual recliners typically outlasting electric ones on paper, and some brands offering a lifetime warranty on their mechanical rocker recliners.
On top of that sits the warranty on the leather or fabric covering, the stitching, and separately, the foam.

So before you buy anywhere, ask what a warranty actually covers and for how long.

After more than 40 years in this business, we know the detail behind every brand we sell, and if you ever do have a warranty issue, we will help you through the process with the supplier ourselves.

So, whether it is a glass of w**e or an unexpected gift from your dog, your lounge will be just fine.

If you have taken us up on our offer to remove your old furniture for free, when we deliver your new recliner or lounge, your old piece comes with us.

We take it back to our warehouse and offer it on to local op shops, so your old couch often gets a second life in someone else's home.

Either way, it is out of your house and taken care of, without you having to lift a finger.

There is one thing we check on every lounge before it goes on our floor, and it starts before the order even goes in.

Can you guess what it is?

Before we bring in a new supplier, we like to see the quality of their work with our own eyes.

That is why we make the trip to events such as the Australian International Furniture Fair, where we can look closely at the stitching, the zips, the foam and the frame underneath.
Sometimes we get to talk with the people doing the manufacturing.

It means that by the time a piece reaches our floor, we already know it is furniture we are comfortable standing behind.

A woman stood in our showroom ready to buy a very particular lounge.

She loved the colour. She loved the style. It was exactly what she pictured in her home.
But it was not the right chair for her.

It was too big, her feet were swinging off the floor, and the seat was deep enough that it would have left her with lower back pain.

Doing what we do best, we guided her towards a similar style in the same colour, one that would suit her ergonomically as well as visually.
