Red Dog Stamping & Craft

Red Dog Stamping & Craft A good way of meeting people whilst learning and sharing your craft.

Red Dog Stamping has been operating in Newman since 2003 and originally held weekly classes and craft get togethers as well as having a small craft supply

Moving on 20 years and we are more focused on making completed hand made products. The main aim of these products are to be a mixture of Newman/Pilbara specific products as well as general crafts

Over a 15-year period, a wonderful group of ladies from Newman would head down to the Brisbane Papercraft Expo together. It was always a highlight of the year — three full days of creativity, packed with nine different classes.
One year, I did a Zentangling class and really enjoyed it. I was so excited that I couldn’t resist teasing one of our friends who hadn’t been able to join us that trip. I jokingly told her I wasn’t going to show her how to do it, because I just knew she’d be brilliant at it.
Of course, I eventually gave in and shared what I’d learned. True to form, she picked it up beautifully, ran with it, and took it to a whole new level. She went on to travel to the United States and become a certified Zentangle teacher — a wonderful full-circle moment.
Here are a few of my own early attempts:

What can I share with you today? I’ve always loved a good challenge when it comes to card making.
Years ago, I used to buy an Australian card-making magazine (I think that was the name), and one issue featured a beautiful reader-submitted card with a carousel horse. At the time, my friend’s daughter was turning seven, so I decided to make something special for her.
Of course, I couldn’t keep it simple. I created an interactive card that, when opened and the back tied to the front, transformed into a complete seven-horse carousel. Each section had a window cutout so you could see the horses inside, and I mounted them on delicate ribbons so they could gently spin and move. It was a huge hit — she loved it, and her family kept the card for years.
But even that wasn’t quite enough for me. I went on to make a full, freestanding carousel. I designed it so it could sit on a jewellery turntable, with lights shining up through the centre for a magical glowing effect.
Unfortunately, I didn’t take any photos of it until two years later, by which time it had gotten a little squashed and damaged. Still, it was one of my favourite projects.

So it may be time to reshow some of my work and tell you a little about me for anyone new seeing as I have now completed the move to Bullsbrook.

My name is Michelle and I am married and have an amazing fur baby Enzo who turned 13 two weeks ago

I wasn’t much of a crafter before I moved to Newman in 1996. About 9 months after I arrived I started going to the Neighbourhood centre every Monday and that was where I got the craft bug. I started with stamping/card making and also had a go at my first quilt and papertole. In May 2003 the lady who had a very small card business was leaving town so I bought it off her and that was the beginning of Red Dog Stamping. Where did the business name come from. Well our first two Hungarian vizslas Crank and Casey. Not “The” Red Dog who I hadn’t even heard about at that stage. Casey is my logo

Can I please ask a favour of anyone who has ever done one of my classes to leave a review? You will probably find the review tab under “more”. I am trying to get classes up and running here and just need some reviews.
So whether you have done one in Newman or Port Hedland or even the retreat in Tom Price. Anything will be appreciated

Thanks
