As a child Melissa loved visiting her grandparents to see what they were making. Her grandfather, Urban Gallant, had a wood working “barn” outback where he created just about everything from wooden lawn ornaments, furniture and even a few scaled building replicas. Urban lost the use of the right side of his body after a stroke; he did his wood working with only his left hand. Theresa worked as his
other hand helping to assemble and paint his projects, among her own projects of crochet, knitting and baking. As Melissa grew up she knew someday she had to have a workshop. She knew she was someday going to follow in the family footsteps. In 2016 a decision was made that she was going to start putting together her little shop. It’s a mere 5’x8’, and would formally be known as the porch of her home, but it fits the tools she needs. From here she started creating her wood working crafts. Melissa concentrates on creating Intarsia-esque style woodworking, but also enjoys making scroll saw fretwork and furniture building. If you don’t find her in the workshop you will find her working on some other renovation/remodel project in her century home.
