LEARN TO SEW IN A DAY

We’ve had so many people ask us about beginner sewing classes, so we’re very excited to finally be able to offer one!

Spaces for this class are extremely limited, so don’t leave it too long if you’ve been wanting to learn!

We’re excited to have the School of Sewing & Upcycling (SOSU) joining us at Heights Sewing Centre for their Learn to Sew in a Day workshop.

It’s a five-hour class designed for absolute beginners, so you really can come along with little or no sewing experience.

You’ll start with the basics — setting up your machine, threading it, getting comfortable with the controls and learning to sew straight lines and curves. Then you’ll put those new skills into practice and make a fully lined tote bag to take home.

And the best part? You don’t need to own a sewing machine. Machines and equipment are provided, along with all the fabric and thread you’ll need for the day. Of course, if you have your own machine and would like to learn on it, you’re welcome to bring it along too.

It’s a great class if you’re completely new to sewing, getting back into it after a few years away, or just want to finally get the confidence to start sewing at home.

By the end of the day you’ll have a finished tote bag, some handy notes to take home and a whole lot more confidence around your sewing machine.

Kids Can Sew Too! And with the September school holidays just around the corner, we’ve got some fun sewing workshops coming to Heights Sewing Centre!

SOSU – School of Sewing & Upcycling is running a range of hands-on workshops for kids aged 8–14, designed especially for those with little to no sewing experience.

And don’t worry if your child doesn’t have a sewing machine! Machines will be available to use in class, so they can come along and give sewing a try without needing to own a machine.

Each session is just $85, and kids will learn sewing machine basics before creating their own fun project to take home.

Fancy trying something a little different with your overlocker? Kate from Sew Into Overlocking is back at Heights Sewing Centre with her brand new Flowering Gums class on Saturday 26 September.

It looks like such a fun way to explore decorative overlocking and create something really special.

Kids Sewing Classes are coming to Heights Sewing Centre these September school holidays, run by SOSU – School of Sewing & Upcycling!

Designed for kids aged 8–14 years, these fun, hands-on workshops are a great introduction to sewing while creating something they can take home and be proud of.

It was lovely to welcome Kim’s Wednesday Patchwork Class from Altona North to our classroom space at Heights Sewing Centre in Milton Street for a little excursion and outing today!

It was wonderful to have the group visit our new store, catch up, enjoy some sewing time together and, of course, fill the classroom with their beautiful patchwork creations. There’s something pretty special about seeing a room full of makers, fabrics and finished projects!

Thank you to Kim and all the ladies for spending the day with us. We hope you enjoyed your little outing to Bell Park!
