It was a fantastic day bringing together health professionals, educators, advocates, and community leaders to share ideas, challenges, and solutions around creating better food environments for schools and students.

We’ve worked with Hamlet for a long time now, and it’s been incredible watching the space grow into something that genuinely changes lives. Each year they push a little further, open new doors, and create real opportunities for people who’ve too often been left out of the conversation.

Seeing Emily recognised as Tasmania’s Local Hero feels absolutely right. She’s been one of the driving forces behind so much of what Hamlet has achieved — giving people living with disability a path into hospitality, building skills and confidence, and helping shift the industry toward something more inclusive and human.

We’re proud to have been involved along the way, and even prouder to cheer Emily on as she represents Tasmania in Canberra next January. A well-earned honour for someone who never stops showing up.

Congratulations to our co-founder and CEO who has been named Tasmania’s Local Hero in this year’s Awards, acknowledging her significant contribution to the local community, and profound impact on the lives of many Tasmanians.

We’ll be cheering Emily on as she represents Lutruwita/Tasmania at the Australian of the Year Awards in Canberra in late January 2026.

On behalf of everyone at Medhurst Kitchen Equipment, we couldn’t be more honoured to have had the chance to work alongside Julie and support her vision.

Julie’s commitment to ensuring Tasmanian children receive a nutritious, sit-down meal made from seasonal, locally sourced produce has reshaped what’s possible. Her drive has seen thousands of students across the State enjoy a hot lunch every day, with the program continuing to grow and reach even more schools in 2026.

To see her recognised as Senior Australian of the Year for Tasmania is not only fitting but incredibly well deserved.

Bring energy and personality to our shop, help customers find kitchen solutions, keep the store looking sharp, and support the team during busy times. Retail experience is helpful but not essential — a good attitude, initiative, and an interest in cooking or hospitality go a long way.

🚚 Warehouse & Delivery — with a dash of sales

Unload trucks, handle stock, deliver equipment around Hobart (and sometimes beyond), and occasionally step in behind the counter to serve customers. You’ll need a current driver’s and forklift licence, reliability, and a willingness to get stuck in.

We’ll be closed from Friday the 18th to Monday the 21st of April for the Easter public holidays, taking a few well-earned days to stop, breathe, and spend time with the ones who put up with us the rest of the year. It’s been a big start, and this little pause gives us the reset we need to come back sharper. We’ll be back in the swing on Tuesday the 22nd, ready to hit the ground running.
