Our "Land" exhibition featuring works from the Monday night potters is now on display in the cabinet in the main craft centre building.

It's a lovely combination of colours, hand building and wheel thrown pieces and different clay.

Well done to everyone for helping to create such a beautiful display.

Congratulations to Karen, Belinda, Elisabeth, Jen, Lil, Pip and Susi, and their super tutors, Janelle and Laine, who just completed a 6 week throwing class.

Laine says that the group developed from finding it hard to centre to attempting to pull a 10 inch cylinder - something they would never have tried.

The course gave them " confidence to go past their comfort zone" and Laine said that it was " just amazing - it's the beginning of a lifetime of learning and we could not have asked for a lovelier group."

Well done, ladies. We look forward to sharing some of your creations over the coming weeks.

Not all pottery is pots.

This beautiful box was made by Kylie Lamph from our Wednesday night group and the houses are the work of Dayle Lummis from our Wednesday night group.

We also have this stunning light shade and house from Shannon.

We'll regularly be sharing the work of our potters throughout the year, including our pottery packers picks, our own version of the Archibald Packer's Prize.

Whether you're a potter, a would be pottery or appreciate beautiful, original art, we hope you'll follow along for inspiration.

The pottery year is well and truly underway after our annual Summer break.

Pottery and ceramics are hugely popular and our group includes a diverse mix of men and women, of all ages and ability.

For our first post for 2026 we want to share this story from our amazing President Laine Abberfield, (AKA Pottery Laine) who, amongst a million other things, is currently helping a group learning wheel throwing.

"I can still remember that light bulb moment when I sat with a drawing of what I wanted to throw and could actually achieve the shape. I might add it took many, many hours of total chaos and some heartbreak.

I had a very basic kick wheel at home, lived in Wollongong, had a laundry, under the back of our first home with a store room attached. Bob built me some shelving and I would sometimes be down there until 2am - lost in my own world, and yes had to go to work that morning - I was hooked - all started in 1975😋

Wasn’t long before I bought my first Venco wheel, which I still have and all it’s needed was a new set grommets - $45.00 about 4 years ago."

What an amazing inspiration Laine is. Endlessly helping others and sharing her wisdom, skills and experience.

We'll share a story from another of our amazing members next month.

🎉 A HUGE Thank You to Arts North West! 🎉
We’re thrilled to share that Tamworth Community Ceramics, under the umbrella of the Tamworth Regional Craft Centre, has been awarded $500 in Round 7 of the Arts North West Microgrant program!
This funding has contributed towards the purchase of two new pottery wheels, helping us move closer to our dream of running full-capacity, hands-on wheel workshops right here in The Pottery Shed.
With 80 active members—and many without access to their own wheel at home—this boost in equipment means we now have eight wheels available, enough to offer practical learning sessions where more members can throw, create, and develop their skills side by side.
We’re so grateful for the ongoing support of Arts North West and their commitment to fostering creative communities like ours across regional NSW.
See the joy as our potters unpack one of the new wheels—like opening a Christmas present just a little early! 🎁💙
