After a big day barely stopping trying to get all the deliveries done Tonight i stopped at a servo to grab some junk food and energy drinks.
I left the truck running at the bowser as i was only going to be 60 seconds in and out.
When leaving an old 90ish year old lady hunched over with a cane and a large bag of groceries said excuse me could i possibaly trouble you to help me with my bag ?
Of course lets get you to your car safely.
So i juggled my snacks, her coffee and her shopping and we went out to the carpark.
She then said she lives across the road and has been stuck here because her carer never showed up today and she had no option but to make it to the servo alone for supplies then couldnt make it pass the door and just sat their lost not knowing what to do...
So at 10metres a hour walking speed we cross the road and then a few house further....
Thinking ah well ill be able to see the truck.....
So we cross the road and she tells me oh this is my friends house we can cut through here i live on the street behind here.
Nek minut we are travelling through jumanji on wet grass, rocks, uneven ground, gates etc.
Im thinking oh god this isnt going to end well...
With lots of chats along the way i eventually got this lady home and put her bags away ( telling myself the trucks still at servo the whole time ).
True elderly lady style she then starts hunting for canned goods or something to pay me with.....
Seemed shocked i wouldnt take anything and was happy just knowing she is safe....
It bothers me that this happens in 2026.....
How much taxes we pay and how many elderly, homeless, disabled etc live like this

We havent been doing fuel levies because as my post showed the other day .....we all hurting financially atm.
So i try counteract this with my jigsaw multi loads.

My average trip has 10 drops and pickups planned in order of weight...location...time...order of loading.....

I dont charge booking fees...

So PLEASE on behalf of all us express rigid guys....

If you book a job and plans change... communicate.....

If the shoe was on the other foot and i forgot a auction pickup and said ill grab it next week all good meaning 7 days of auction storage feea average person would lose their mind.

Ive had 4 jobs today do some of the above and i gotta say im getting massively fu***ng over it.
