There is also a lot of patchwork fabrics on the bolt and precuts, as well as notions. Originally out of Orange, we have now moved into Orange township.

Thelma's Conservatory is the result of wanting somewhere to sit and create - sew, craft, scrapbook or anything creative, without having to leave the Orange area. There is plenty of space for the fabric, and a room for sewing and crafting, or just being creative. Due to COVID, we are a little restricted with space, so its a good idea to ring or text before coming to visit, just in case there are too many people here at once.

Choose a favourite such as a Log Cabin, Flying Geese, Star or Nine Patch, then have a little fun with it! Try brighter colours, oversized blocks, plenty of breathing room or even an off-centre layout. A few simple changes can give a much-loved design a completely fresh personality.

👖 Transform Old Jeans with Feminine Florals 😃🌸🌸

Who says old denim has to look plain or rugged? By teaming it with pretty daisies and soft blue florals, those old jeans can be transformed.

Denim is having a real moment in the quilting world this year. A denim quilt called 'Mom Jeans', made by Carolyn McKibbin, even won Best in Show at QuiltCon 2026. Repurposed-denim projects were also included in this year’s Festival of Quilts program in the UK.

For your own project, save the best pieces of denim and combine them with your favourite floral fabrics. Use the prints for feature panels, patchwork squares, pockets, handles or bag lining. You could also keep some of the original denim seams and pockets to give your creation even more personality.

Our pretty blue florals and cheerful daisy fabrics are perfect for softening the look of denim and giving an old pair of jeans a beautiful new life.

🎨 B&W Colour Challenge: Add a Pop of Colour!

Black-and-white quilts can look very striking on their own, but adding one bright colour can really bring the whole design to life.

Start with black, white or low-volume fabrics, then choose one hero colour. You might add warm orange, fresh turquoise, playful magenta or a lively splash of lime green. Even a small amount can make a big difference!

If you don’t feel ready to tackle an entire quilt, try a single block, cushion, table runner or mini quilt.
