Our recent site visit to St Mary’s Tower in Douglas Park was a reminder of why architectural heritage matters. Standing at the base of the tower, you feel the weight of its history, the craftsmanship, the material honesty, the way it anchors itself to the landscape. At the top of the tower it feels weightless. The stone below is solid, but the space around you is sky and horizon. It's a moment if stillness suspended above the ground.
