Matt black wasn't the answer in this shower screen installation. Neither was Silver.

Black would have drawn hard lines through a room built on soft ones, and silver would have turned cold against the warm tiles and timber. The owners of this Brabham home chose brushed nickel, and they chose well. Tapware, shower rail, basin mixer, and the frame of the shower screen all match and work as one.

It's a decision worth thinking about carefully. On a semi-frameless screen the frame runs the full perimeter of the enclosure, which makes it one of the largest expanses of metal in the room. Matched to the rest of the fixtures, it reads as part of the palette.

Brushed nickel is one of a wide range of finishes we supply, alongside matt black, bright silver, brushed brass, gun metal and more.

The screen itself is 6mm toughened glass, sitting on a raised sill with a return panel measured to follow the nib wall beside the vanity.

Look at the vanity in this Aveley bathroom, then look at the tiles, then look at the shower screen. Ribbed timber, vertical finger tiles, fluted glass. The whole room runs in vertical lines, and the screen joins in rather than working against them.
It's a single panel of 10mm toughened narrow reeded glass mounted on a nib wall, with brushed nickel brackets as the only hardware and a radius corner softening the one edge everyone sees when they walk in. The half wall handles the splash zone, the glass handles the spray line, and there's no door at all.
The fluted texture is on the outside face only. The inner face is smooth, so it cleans exactly like standard clear glass.
Privacy that reads as a design decision, not an afterthought.

The best bathroom design choices are often the quiet ones. This Currambine renovation is a good example of how custom glass can tie a room together rather than just sit in it.
The customer picked reeded glass for the shower screen so it echoes the fluted texture on the front of the vanity. Then radius corners on both the screen and the mirror, picking up the curved corners of the vanity below. None of it shouts. It just makes the room feel considered, like every piece belongs with the one next to it.
Because every screen and mirror we make is custom, that kind of matching is open to anyone. The texture, the corner, the size, all of it is yours to set.
So it's worth a thought before your own bathroom is finished: is there a detail already in the room that your glass could pick up and carry through?

Stone this dark could easily make a bathroom feel closed in. Glass from one wall to the other is what keeps this one open.
The shower sits on one side and the toilet on the other, both inside a single frameless enclosure. We set a satin etched panel between the two and left the rest clear, so the stone runs unbroken across the walls and the whole space still reads as one room. The hardware finish is brushed nickel.

Some custom shower screens pay no attention to floor layout or flow of the room.

Our Half Return configuration does consider these things and positions the return panel - glass to tile, and is siliconed at the junction with no framing between them.

The front panel runs inline with the bath wall.
The tiling continues uninterrupted, and the screen reads as part of the floor plan rather than an addition to it.

The shower head, basin tapware, and bath fittings are all in matt black. The frame carries that finish consistently and the room reads as considered from every angle.

When the tapware is already brushed brass, the shower screen frame decision writes itself.
This Morley installation is a semi-frameless screen in brushed brass, with 6mm toughened glass running wall to wall in an inline configuration: fixed panel, pivot door, fixed panel.
The screen frame, the mixer, the shower rail, and the towel rail all share the same finish, which is what makes the room feel cohesive.
Other frame finishes include: matt black, bright silver, matt silver, matt gold, white, and gun metal. Custom powder coat on request.

Corner frameless shower screen in a Federation-era Midland home. The original green tiled hob, octagonal floor tiles, and subway walls were all preserved and look fabulous.
