Absolutely honoured to have my work from 2024’s Margaret River Italian Printmaking Retreat included alongside such a talented and passionate group of printmakers. Can’t believe it was over a year ago. Thank you again to Francesco Geronazzo for opening his studio and passing on his extensive knowledge and expertise. Truly grateful.

Italian Printmaking Retreat Castel del Rio July 2024

My last day at studio was spent practicing Gum Arabic Transfer (Paper Lithography) to create these almost ghostly ephemeral visuals from old photos I’d have taken across the years.
Everyday was mind blowing, learning so many different techniques with an infinite amount of possible outcomes.

Italian Printmaking Retreat July 2024 

I was blessed to spend 7 days of pure creativity, artistic study, and culture in the hills of the Emilia-Romagna region at Castel del Rio studio back in July. 

A massive thank you to for opening up his studio and sharing his extensive knowledge with me as an amateur printmaker. I couldn’t have asked for a better teacher. From intaglio to relief, it was jam-packed with traditional and contemporary techniques; I can’t wait to put them to practice in my home studio and at uni.
My experience with Francesco as my mentor can be summed up by the Japanese proverb: “Better than a thousand days of diligent study is one day with a great teacher”. Being taken under his wing and watching him work was an absolute privilege and honour. I will forever cherish his guidance and kindness.

Although the experience went by so fast, it’s a time in my life that I’ll never forget and one I hold deeply within my heart and soul. Hopefully, one day, I’ll make my way back to Castel del Rio for round two of the retreat. 

Another massive thank you to Bruno and Francesca at for their hospitality. It’s incredible how kindness and laughter (plus wine...lots of wine) can transcend all language barriers. A beautiful home run by a beautiful family with their furry and feathery friends. A truly special home.
