This week I decided it was time to close my made it shop. Fear not, The Layered Page isn’t going anywhere. After the recent owner change of the platform, many changes and shortcomings I just decided it doesn’t suit my business and it was time to let it go. I have a workshop or two in the pipeline so watch this space. I would like to say a very big Thank you to all my amazing customers who have supported my shop and purchased from me over the years. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been watching Barbara from 49 Dragonflies use ChatGPT to help clean up and organize her craft room. It has been so interesting and insightful, and it finally inspired me to tackle my own space. ✨

In total, it took me around five full days spread over several weeks. Along the way, I learned so much—not just about organizing, but about my habits, my limits, and what I really need in my creative space. 💛

Like Barbara, I found it completely overwhelming at first. But little by little, as you chip away at it, something shifts. 🌿 It becomes lighter. Easier. More manageable. And by the end, space suddenly becomes more important than stuff.

This is not the first time I’ve spent almost a week of my life sorting out this room, and I’ve decided it’s going to be the last! 😅

I now have a plan: never dump another thing on my desk. Everything either gets put away, or if it doesn’t have a home, it gets one. And if I can’t find or create a home for it, then maybe it shouldn’t have come into the room in the first place. 😮

I think one of my biggest issues is that I don’t actually craft in my craft room—I craft in the dining room. So over time, my craft room slowly became a storage room, and that’s a problem. 🤦‍♀️

The next stage is to move my dining room crafting setup back to my newly cleared desk without filling it up with clutter again. My goal is to create a space that feels functional, inspiring, and creative rather than crowded. ✂️📚🕊️

Last weekend, husband and I went to the Perth Home Show and I purchased this statue for our garden. Not because I love snails but because it has a whimsical quality about. Something about it made me instantly want to get it and I have no regrets. She fits perfectly into our outdoor space ♥️

Late yesterday I saw a post about a garage sale that I had missed. It looked right up my alley so I messaged and asked if I could please come today. They responded and said yes, so this morning I went to Mandurah. I was there for two hours rummaging and fossicking through a wonderful collection of timber treasures and assorted metal door hardware and hooks. I was really in my element. I filled the car and drove home to unpack and inspect my purchases. I spent the afternoon sorting and cleaning them, I was in my happy place. Needless to say none of my list of jobs to do today got done but that’s ok because I enjoyed my detour and don’t regret a single minute 🙌😍
