It was such a privilege to create the artwork template for KintaCo Early Learning’s NAIDOC Week project.

Our children, Our future
The design features footprints symbolising children walking their journey through school and childcare, and figures of children holding hands to represent their shared path toward the future. The handprints reflect each child’s unique identity and the individuality they bring to our community.

In 2003, my dad, Leon Slater, a young artist who was 24—just like I am now—created an artwork for NAIDOC Week titled “Our Children, Our Future.” Now, at the same age, I am presenting my own piece, Merging: The History of Ellenbrook and the Children of the Present and Future.

Without intending to, the fact that we are the same age and have created such similar pieces is incredibly special to me.

As a talented Aboriginal artist, we commissioned her to create a meaningful piece of art for us that was unique to Nido Ellenbrook, it's history and it's future.

This beautiful piece made for a Early School🥰

I am incredibly proud of this accomplishment. This piece holds deep personal significance, as I created it specifically for my work as an early childhood educator. My role is meaningful to me, and I take great pride in bringing my culture into the lives of the children I work with.

Experience a Dreamtime story brought to life through my artwork, reflecting the rich history of the Ellenbrook hunting grounds.
