SPOT THE DIFFERENCE | It’s remarkable what a few months and a change of season can do. As a building settles into its surroundings, its landscape begins to take on a life of its own.

When we revisited Rondure House just months after completion, the shift from winter to spring had transformed the garden. The lush planting now softens the building’s curved form, blurring the threshold between architecture and nature.

Scroll to see the difference — proof that with time (and a little sunshine), a project truly grows into itself.

Constraints often spark the best ideas.

Sloping sites can be tricky — they challenge the way we think about levels, flow and access. But they also open the door to moments that might not exist on a flat block.

By embracing the terrain rather than fighting it, these projects turn what could have been limitations into opportunities — from tucked-away communal lounges and bars carved into the lower ground, to layered outdoor connections that celebrate the change in level. The result is spaces that respond to their site, feeling more grounded and intentional.

Here are a few projects that turn constraints into character:
1. Summit Road, c.2021
2. Rondure House, c.2019
3-5. Maleela, c.2023

It’s not every day you get to celebrate a team member’s 10-year milestone. Recently we were fortunate enough to toast to 10 WHOLE YEARS since Matt Hainsworth first joined the Cera Stribley team as an architect. These days, he’s an Associate Director, spearheading Design within our Houses team.

Matt was our fourth employee ever. So it goes without saying that he’s contributed a lot to our practice over the past decade, and has been instrumental in shaping who we are today. Wile we’ve been busy multiplying from a team of four to one of 80+, Matt’s been busy leading the design of some of our best work: Tapestry House, Deco House, Mathoura, and Bayside House, to name just a few.

Matt, it’s a pleasure to have you on our team. Thank you for all the good you bring to our practice everyday. ✌️
