Author’s Note:

I didn’t set out to write a book.
I set out to survive.

To make sense of beauty and loss, of time and love, of all the lives that have passed through me and through the rooms I have built. What began as a collection of antiques became a collection of moments. Each mirror, each clock, each tapestry carried a story and together, they became a reflection of my own.

Appartement 26 was never meant to be a business. It was a sanctuary. A rebellion against a world that forgets to feel. A place where beauty could still save us or at least, remind us that we are still capable of being moved.

In these pages, you will not find perfection. You will find truth fragile, flawed, sometimes defiant. You will find fragments of a life rebuilt piece by piece, like a room restored after a storm.

I wrote this not to be remembered, but to remember.

To remember who I was before I broke, and who I became after I did.

To honour the people, the pieces, and the places that taught me that beauty is not vanity it is survival.

This is not a book about antiques.

It is a book about time. About love. About what remains when everything else has been taken away.

In 2003 I walked into what most people would see, as an empty apartment shell, 4 grey walls…..
But I saw something else…..
I saw all my dreams, my passion, I could see my soul come to life.
When I told my family & my friends, I was going to bring Paris to Melbourne…. They all said i was crazy… & maybe a part of was.

On February 4th 2005 I opened the doors of Appartement 26 & opened up my heart & soul to share with the world.
