Getting ready for the Alice Springs Beanie Festival Beanie Festival 2022 where I will volunteer for 10 hours.
Dates are 24 - 27 June at the Araluen Arts Centre Alice Springs.

My journey with making and loving beanies began on the top of a mountain above the snow line in the Huon Valley in Tasmania some 30+ years ago …hand spinning wool and selling my beanies to local farmers and fishermen, and to a wider market at the iconic Salamanca Market where I had a stall for some years.
Upon retirement, my journey with beanies went ‘on the road’ in the shape of a ‘93 Toyota Coaster bus which became my permanent home for 5 years whilst I travelled around Australia making/selling/exchanging and giving away beanies as I travelled over 80,000 k’s.
When I sold the bus, my lifestyle became urban and fixed, and so I have been given more opportunities for beanie making … particularly during Covid lifestyle restrictions and lockdowns.
What have I learnt in these years?
There’s a beanie for eyeryone ……
and I am sharing some photos of my journey to demonstrate this.
