These are the Lakeview Bedsides in jarrah and rock maple. Made by Owen as his first Dunstone Design cabinets. Commissioned as part of a set to go with an almost finished Lakeview 4 for a soft and timbery bedroom suite.

Introducing a new design; Parachilna Cabinet in Tasmanian blackwood and rock maple. Named after the remnant town in South Australia with the Flinders Ranges to the East and the Ediacaran fossil beds to the west. The fluting is reminiscent of the many moods of the Flinders Ranges and how light and shadows change the landscape from moment to moment.

Alex just finished these; one commissioned by a client and the other because Evan was so excited about the design he wanted one up his sleeve.

We just got back from a weekend up in the picturesque hills of Montville as part of the . Big thanks to everyone who put it together and attended during the weekend. It’s always lovely to spent the days with people that admire our work and the evenings with peers who make their own living in the trade.

Back at the workshop we’ve been busy making furniture and working on fulfilling the many jobs we have going at the moment. But we’ve just finished a couple very sweet cabinets that I’m keen to photograph and share next week.

Thanks for looking 😌

It’s been a while since we did a workshop update, so I thought I’d let you know what’s been happening. Evan’s in New Zealand and we’re all making cabinets. It’s a bit wild, there are three of us here and we’ve got seven cabinets going between us.

Alex is working on two Blackwood cabinets, one on commission and a second for us (or you 😉). Owen is making two matching jarrah bedsides on commission and spending Fridays on his first apprentice piece. I am making a Lakeview chest of drawers to go with said bedsides AND am scrambling to put the finishing touches on a cabinet that has been eating my weekends for the wootha prize.

Cabinets and cabinet parts everywhere, but we’re not complaining!

From this year going forward, the prize for the overall winner of the Wootha Prize will be known as The William Bayliss Commemorative Prize. We put it in the newsletter and in the stories, but it belongs in the grid. This is important to us and a really fitting way to remember Will.

I’d like to let you know about it, but also to ask you to donate if you’re able. The donations will go towards keeping this prize going in future years, and rightfully making sure people continue to hear Will’s story and see his beautiful work.

He was a ridiculously creative and inspiring maker. I hope his work inspires you or even just brings you a little extra joy. To know that there was someone out here making whimsy come to life.

The link to donate is in our bio 💙

The Bambrick bedside tables in Tasmanian blackwood, wenge and rock maple.

Last week Alex finished work on these two blackwood bedsides. They are a simple design with a complex construction, made on commission for a local client.

We’ve all been getting very busy in the workshop turning wood into furniture and the rest into dust. Amongst the commissions being made and orders being filled, Evan had to run himself through a small cabinet project in preparation for an upcoming course. I was photographing some of our recent work today and thought I’d take a few shots of his cabinet to show it off a little.

From the 16th to the 27th of March a few lucky people will be making this cabinet under Evan’s guidance at The Centre for Fine Woodworking in New Zealand. Having just spent a month on the south island of NZ, and of course visiting the school in Nelson, I can highly recommend the scenery. And having worked with Evan for a couple of years now, I can recommend the company too. There’s a couple spots left, so if you feel like a romantic woodworking escape by the coast I think you know what to do.

Meanwhile, the rest of us at Dunstone Design will be having a less romantic time doing woodwork in our own workshop. Feel free to visit us when the boss is away next month!

As the year comes to a close we’re hustling to finish some pieces before the break. Unfortunately, Evan has been stuck at home sick so he’s had to leave us to close the workshop.

Alex is working on some resawn veneered bedside tables in Tasmanian blackwood, Owen is switching between a run of Tamar chairs and the planning of his apprenticeship piece. I’m (Aditi) putting the final touches on the two commissioned Canopy Lights I’ve been making, and the cabinet Evan has been working on was put on hold a little early.

We hope everyone has a very merry Christmas and a happy and hopeful new year. The workshop will be back in full swing again on the 6th of January 2026. See you in the new year!

Hey 👋🏽

Look how good-looking our furniture that we sell and is for sale for people to buy is.

Just came on here to remind you.

Cheers,
