T O M F E R E D A Y

Fascinated by the tension that lies between natural materials and contemporary design and manufacture, Tom Fereday develops unique designs originating from an intrinsic inquiry into the role of objects today. Built on the principle of honest design Tom Fereday’s work celebrates the materials and manufacture behind furniture and objects, guiding considered and thoughtful design outcomes that explore the notion of quiet innovation.

Through a holistic approach we collaborate with renowned local makers, designers and brands with the shared view that through collaboration a more meaningful and resonating result may be found. Tom Fereday works in furniture, product design and lighting with the inherent belief that technical construction, form and exhibition be considered as one. When a project is complete we hold it up to present that our design is considered from every angle and made with nothing to hide.

Born in Australia, Tom Fereday grew up in London, England studying sculpture and graphic design at the Wimbledon School of Art before moving to Australia to complete an honours in Industrial Design at the University of Technology Sydney. Working across Europe and Australia Tom Fereday went on to found his sole practice in 2012. Works have been presented and published internationally through collaborations with brands including Herman Miller, Alessi and Stellarworks and exhibited through galleries including Museum of Contemporary Art, Art Gallery of New South Wales, Powerhouse Museum, Australian Design Centre and frequent international furniture fairs.

S T U D I O K A Y T A R

Jacqueline Kaytar is a Croatian Australian. Since beginning her creative journey in textile design, Kaytar has developed her stylistic vocabulary in the creation of objects and space over more than 20 years.

Kaytar’s work explores the liminal space between art and design. Whilst some works are pure artistic expression, others offer the dual purpose of sculptural expression and function. Her lighting pieces interact with space through form and illumination.

Kaytar’s artistic process is guided by alchemic experimentation and the modification of natural matter. This focus on transformation is borne of her interest in the consciousness of things. Working with materials from nature, such as flax, plant dyes, metal, minerals and beeswax – all selected for their symbolic associations – Kaytar believes that this matter, when imbued with human touch, becomes animate.

This spark of life is not only present during the process of artistic transformation, but also resonates with viewers interacting with Kaytar’s finished forms. The artist’s hope is that her works in lighting, sculpture, textiles and the built environment take us to realms of sensory pleasure, memory and contemplation, allowing us to regain a sense of awe in all things.

S T U D I O D O K O L A

Billy Crellin is the founder of Melbourne glassblowing Studio Dokola. His work sits somewhere between historical reference and material speculation.

They are interested in glass as a material that was once used to imitate precious stones, and how its value and meaning has shifted over time. The forms often reference early glassmaking techniques or natural processes — molten, geological, or eroded states — while also questioning what glass might become in the future.

S C O T T B E M E L E N

Scotty Bemelen creates characterful works that rest within the realm of storied beautility. Through immersive play-based inquiry and the embracing of unbridled material exploration, Scotty forges pieces that defy definition, belonging instead to the overlapping shared space on a Venn diagram representing furniture design, sculpture and improvisation.

During the pandemic, Scotty combined his construction expertise with a deep-seated creative passion, experimenting with a myriad of mediums through a freeform process of carving, burning, beating, staining and texturing, resulting in a uniquely primal collection that quickly caught the attention of the design world and led to the establishment of practice, BIEËMELE. His pieces not only serve functional purposes but also evoke joy and tactile interaction, showcasing a mastery of colour often serendipitously forged by the application of stains and chemicals that render graphic patinas upon timber and copper and a penchant for whimsical, thought-provoking designs that engage the imagination through motifs and organic forms.

Scotty’s work stands apart in the design and art realm for its enchanting singularity that makes talismans of fictional furniture, turning the concept of a simple chair into a compact transformative place in which to hide away from the world and while away the hours.

S A R A H N E D O V I C

Sarah Nedovic is an artist and designer based in Melbourne, working at the intersection of sculpture, light, and space. With a background in textile design, her practice is guided by an instinctive understanding of rhythm, proportion, and material. Clay and light remain central to her process. Explored through traditional hand-building techniques that lend each piece a sense of balance, intention, and quiet presence.

Working closely with a dedicated studio team, Nedovic creates collectible lighting and objects in small, limited editions. Every work is made in-house – shaped, assembled, and refined by hand – resulting in sculptural works designed to live with time and space.

The studio operates as both a creative atelier and a growing archive of design. Its work has been commissioned and acquired globally, from Dior in Paris to celebrated Australian interiors. Constantly evolving, it continues to expand through collaboration, exploration, and a commitment to enduring design.

O L I V E G I L L-H I L L E

Olive Gill-Hille is a multidisciplinary artist and designer based in Melbourne. She aims to create pieces that transform furniture, traditionally static items, into involved and unconventional works of art. The artist's experimental structures often reference the human body, bodies supporting bodies and adapting shapes and forms from the natural environment into man-made works. Developing a narrative surrounding the artworks as well as drawing inspiration from the material's history and artist's working environment are key aspects of Gill-Hille's practice.

M A R L O L Y D A

Marlo Lyda is a designer-maker, curator, and educator based in Sydney. A graduate of Design Academy Eindhoven, her practice is guided by hands-on material experimentation, producing sculptural yet functional furniture, lighting, and objects from unconventional resources.

Her work reframes discarded materials - marble offcuts, invasive timbers, salvaged metals and textiles - revealing the stories embedded in what already exists and celebrating material irregularity as creative potential.

OKO OLO is a multi-disciplinary creative partnership, comprised of Genevieve Hromas and Juliet Ramsey based in Sydney,Australia.

With 50 years of combined design and art-making experience between them, working across disciplines; from functional sculpture, textiles and printmaking, to interior architecture. This common ground gives the collaboration a shorthand, fluidity, and strength. Whether in reverence to past makers, or a fascination with contemporaries, this constant discourse in forms and inspires their practice.‘Ocean Stones’ A facsimile of something that may seem common to the eye, rendered in a distinctly different material.Elevated, these objects seek to change perceptions around the inherent beauty of nature.
