So many years ago I came across hundreds of small vintage pieces of flat backed plastic in Sydney. So enticing and captivating. Distracted by life and my fine art practice, I kept them unused for two decades! I finally mustered the time and confidence to sit down and design some wearable art with them….that was a few years ago and I mainly gave them to friends and family who showed an interest in them. So now, I’ve decided to set about making highly unique pieces out of all the pieces I have. I only have a limited number of the pieces so this project is limited to what I have, however I can’t make functional, wearable pieces without having a backing. This means many of the pieces are created on laser cut acrylic. This does add a modern angle to the designs and makes them versatile and functional. I am passionate about using what we have in the world, especially plastics so I’m always on the look out for existing backings, something I don’t have to get made up. I love the challenge of making something work that I wouldn’t normally choose, I feel it adds to the uniqueness of the piece. In this crazy world of AI and copy cats, let’s all strive to be unique and really value artists for the job they do. The individual vision. Peace friends✌🏻🎨❤️🫶

My 🎃Halloween🎃 Pretty Kitty Vampires are limited edition and made from vintage flat backed plastic pieces I sourced many years back. The backings are laser cut acrylic pieces.
