Rooty Hill & District Lapidary Club The Rooty Hill and District Lapidary Club is a community arts club that promotes and teaches lapidary arts such as gem cutting and jewellery making.

Welcome to the home page of the Rooty Hill and District Lapidary Club (Inc.). We are a small, not-for-profit community club that meets to practice and promote various lapidary crafts including cabochon cutting (cabbing), faceting, beading, silver casting, and jewellery fabrication. The club rooms are located in the rear of the Rooty Hill School of Arts, Rooty Hill NSW (entry is at the rear of buil

ding on the left-hand side). There is ample on-street parking nearby, with the Rooty Hill train station only a short walk away. The club greatly appreciates these premises being made available to us by Blacktown Council, without their support many local community groups would face an uncertain future. Our members work together to maintain a supportive, courteous, and safe club environment. The club generally does not offer structured training courses, rather it fosters a learning environment that encourages members to develop at their own pace. As a member club of the Gem and Lapidary Council of NSW we keep up to date with the activities of the broader lapidary community in NSW. When not in the workshop many of our members like to visit the various jewellery and gem shows that are held regularly in the greater Sydney area. Some of our more energetic members like to travel further afield to fossick for gemstones or fossils.

The club has a new honorary life member, Mr Kevin Spencer. Kevin was a member of our club in the 70's and 80's, and for a number of years ran the workshop. He has recently made a significant donation of lapidary rough, mineral specimens, findings and supplies, from which we will all benefit greatly. Our members would like to thank Kevin for his generosity and support!
