This project was fun! I used different yarn and different colours for them and that kept it interesting for me as a project, and a little bit challenging to work out the best colour combinations.
So let me tell you what it is .. the pattern is The Coral Coast Collection mini Cal from Hooked on Sunshine and it's close to my heart because the designer was inspired by her visit to Australia and cruising the Pacific when she created the designs. One of those cruises was the one I did earlier this year, it's one of my favourite crafting memories 😍
The mandalas are named after some of Ness's favourite places visited during her time here :-
Kuranda - I made this one using Fiddlesticks Wren in a colour scheme I planned and bought yarn specifically for, it turned out pretty if a little too muted for my taste. It's mounted in a 30cm hoop.
Wollongong - Made using stash yarn and impulse buy yarn. The white is left over yarn from a project I did last Christmas 4 Seasons Flinders in white, and it's double stranded with some of the new fun thread from Scheepjes called Trailway, the colourway I used is Rainbows. It's mounted in a 30cm hoop.
Lifou - This was my biggest challenge, it's made using random stash yarn that has been languishing at the bottom of my stash unused cause I don't have enough of it for a whole project, and I can't get more of it for various reasons. There were times when I questioned myself about the range of colours I used, but I kept going and actually love the way it turned out. This one is mounted in a 35cm hoop.
All of the yarns used are 8ply cotton or cotton blend, and I used my 4mm hook for all of them.
I'm so in love with all of these mandalas for different reasons! They're easy little projects that use up those bits of yarn you can't use for anything else. Will definitely do some more projects like this!
