Batty Rie's Creations

Batty Rie's Creations Nothing makes my heart sing more than the thrill of creating be it art, cooking, gardening or sewing. Now that I don't mind telling you is impressive! xx

Hi All,

Batty Rie's Creations is the result of one frustrated Drama teacher's need to express herself creatively. After the birth of my 14 year old daughter Kira, who has Cerebral Palsy, I was forced to place my teaching career on hold and take on the more important and rewarding role as her carer. Over the years my need to express my creativity has exploded in the form of pieces of rie-loved fu

rniture, art, garden creations, costumes, cakes, birthday parties that were bigger than Ben Hur... you name it. With a lot of encouragement from my friends, I decided that maybe it was time to bite the bullet and instead of keeping my brand of crazy all to myself, that I should start selling my Batty Creations to others or at the very least enjoy a bit of "Show and Tell." My love of the quirky and a need for colour in my day, have lead to some seriously fun and rewarding projects. As time has gone on, my page has become more of a place to share my ideas as a busy mum of 2, including the ramblings and advice of a special needs parent, cooking, gardening and or course 'how to's' and inspiration for DIY projects. The only limitation to our abilities are those that we place upon ourselves. With a little research on Youtube and Pinterest, a lot of practice and a can do attitude, I have achieved far more around my home than I ever dreamed possible. Even laying vinyl floor boards and changing the taps in my bathroom sink. So feel free to think of BRC as my personal backyard version of Better Homes and Gardens. As my creations simply depend on what inspiration floats through my window, you never know what project I will be working on next... Feel free to PM me if you have any enquiries or special order requests. I hope you like what I have been up to and that you will take the time to share my page with your friends? It's good to be Batty sometimes...

Have a happy day,

Rie.

D. For the absolutely incredible, most personal and thoughtful Birthday present i have EVER received. The stunningly hand painted portrait of Gizmo!! The most amazing Chinese Crested that I loved and who loved me so so much, and who is the reason we are all so lucky to have our Hairless Babies today as he was my 1st, and because he was so awesome he was the reason Skinnydippin Chinese Cresteds ❤️ is here today!!

The painting is enjoyed by our whole family everyday Rie ❤️ We look at him as we pass him in the small hallway where he hangs out and where we go to the bathroom and we all smile as we pass him and I swear that he is truly looking back at me like he is still here 🐾💗🐾💗🐾💗🐾💗🐾💗🐾 as his eyes are so real and accurate to his identity! you truly have done such an amazing job Rie and I will cherish his portrait and you and our friendship everyday.😘😘😘

Today, after an incredibly long and exhausting two-year fight with the NDIS, we finally received and programmed Kira’s new Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) speech device.

This device is not a luxury. It is a basic necessity and part of Kira’s fundamental human right to communicate.

Frustratingly and unbelievably, we had to fight to prove that a non-verbal young lady like Kira deserves access to a reliable communication device so she can express her needs, wants, feelings, and choices. The process has been emotionally draining — filled with unfair assessments, endless advocacy, frustration, and constant battles for something that should never have been so difficult to access in the first place.

But I’m a stubborn Mumma bear, and I refused to give up.

Today, thanks to the incredible support, determination, and hard work of Darlene Day, Dee Hill, and Clara Navaretti, Kira finally has her new speech device in her hot little hands. I truly cannot thank these amazing women enough for standing beside me and helping make this happen.

This device is absolutely life-changing. It will open doors for Kira that many people take for granted and empower her to communicate independently and make her own choices — whether that’s saying, “I want nachos,” or “No, I don’t want a Coke.” To others, these may seem like small moments, but for Kira they represent independence, dignity, choice, and finally having her own voice.

Today is a reminder that communication is a basic human right, and every person deserves the opportunity to be heard.

And yes — despite how exhausting and frustrating this process has been — thank you to the NDIS for finally approving the support Kira truly needs, because there is simply no way families like ours could afford the specialist aids, therapies, and equipment our children require without the NDIS in place.

I’m loving watching the progress on Leacie’s self portrait! It is positively inspiring watching her work and the painting itself - a portrait of her younger self with her dog Daisy is just gorgeous.

On another note, this week we introduced Leacie to our new therapy doggo, Moxxie Possie Niffty Nu, a Hairless Chinese Crested baby girl. To say it was mutual love at first sight is an understatement. Sadly our Oogi Boogie Fu Fu Cuddlypops wasn’t too pleased about being upstaged by his new little sister, and even refused to accompany his girlfriend out to the car until the interloper was removed from her lap. Lol he can be such a funny fella at times. Anyway, it’s going to be lovely when they finally work out the division of labor. Leacie and all of our participants will be spoiled for love.
