When does creativity become therapy?
When it makes your soul sing with joy!
If you're like me, it might also wake you up in the early hours of the morning with 'you've got to try this!' or 'what would happen if you swapped the fabric to this one?'
My first quilt was a private project, an expression of gratitude, so I won't be sharing that publicly. But now I'm designing and getting started on the second quilt, I thought it would be fun to share the process - from beginning to end.
So far, I've done some sketching on the iPad and turned that into an applique design for my embroidery machine, whilst also considering how it can be done by hand, and if I were to create pattern and instructions you could follow, how to best do that.
At present I'm doing some therapeutic shadow work that's been a bit gnarly. The celebration in that, apart from the freedom from old beliefs and behaviours that arrives when you do the shadow work, is that as the discomfort eases (physically and emotionally) creative ideas flow in, with more innovative approaches and new ways of doing things.
So today, while gently working with a shadow and easing myself through the day, I'm about to stitch the first test block for this quilt and see how it comes out.
Can you guess the subject of this quilt?
