Shuttling between Japan and Australia had left me living on autopilot, a reality I only confronted this morning. Though I spend my days surrounded by exquisite artisan tableware at work, my home life was dominated by hasty meals on mass-produced dishes. Yet, picking up a piece of handmade pottery forced me to slow down and breathe. I felt firsthand how caring for craft items invites us to bring that same gentleness into our daily lives.

I’m Jude Muduioa, a Brisbane-based contemporary ceramic sculptor. I bring the same attention to form and making to my functional ceramics: cups, bowls and tea bowls designed for everyday use.

I’m interested in the quiet rituals that give us a moment to ourselves within a busy day.

The first coffee of the morning.
A quiet coffee at lunchtime.
Taking the time to prepare matcha in a favourite tea bowl.
The pleasure of eating from a beautifully made bowl.

Each piece is made by hand, with every decision recorded in the finished object; its form, surface and the feel of it in your hands.

Each ritual of use is a gesture of care.

The pop-up, just in front of shop this Sat from 9am to 5pm as the 20-year kimomo destroyer anniversary since 2006, I had started making Vintage kimono bags.

I will be back to Brisbane on 2nd Oct. So, unless delay of airflight, I will be there with 30 items which my mum unpicked kimono and I made some outfits. So, actually, a kimono destroyer is my mum, isn't it😁😉💞

Since I began creating my work in 2006, I was fortunate to be supported by iconic gallery stores, retailers, especially Gallery + Store + Workshops MoB Shop Brisbane Grammar School Art Show Diane Lopes (former owner of Green Tangerine Shozo Terauchi (founder of Shibui homewares) and Louise Hood Hanasho Open House and most importantly, our customers.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to all of you for your continued support over the years.

I will keep going to my handmade world as same as shop and OriOru 折を織る.

Without all your supports I couldn't survive and won't make further future..

Houses of West End
Maybe most of the locals knows the tea towel, especially through Open House. This time, Jimmy Sada Sata invited her to Kazuyo's Collection TESHIGOTO🤗💞 it's getting popular and wonderful gift for tourists to keep the image of the original Brisbane. The following is her self-introduction. If you don't know about her and this tea towel, please enjoy reading🫡.........
The Houses of West End project began as a way to admire and document the many houses of Kurilpa, Magandjin (West End, Brisbane), and their unique character. My name is Maeve. I was born in a house on Spring Street and then I did an awful lot of growing up in this suburb. For these reasons, and many more, I hold the area very dear to my heart.

My illustrations serve partly as a coping mechanism because the area has changed so much, so quickly, and continues to do so. It's my own time capsule that started with the houses most special to me and has led to me drawing the homes of friends and even strangers! My most recognisable artwork is probably the 'Icons of West End' tea towel, where I crammed as many landmarks and features of the area into one design. I wanted people to hunt for each icon, like treasure!

I feel very lucky to have grown up in Kurilpa and love sharing even a tiny piece of the history, stories, and life within these special homes and this very special area because so many other people are connected with it, too.

#トチオノアカリ2026

Tonight, we went to Tochio, Nagaoka, where we held the first photoshoot for the OriOru 折を織る project this year.

Tochio no Akari is a traditional light installation, made by winding thread around old wooden tools once used for spinning yarn.

Standing among these lights, I found myself thinking about OriOru’s words,
“Weaving moments in between.”

Tochio carries the weight and richness of its history and culture — a place where the past is still woven into everyday life.

We also visited a local shrine and offered a prayer, hoping that the spirit and stories of this place will continue into the future.

Our local guide tonight was my high school mate, Hasegawa-kun, and our companion was Miwako, one of the OriOru 折を織る volunteer models.

For a little while, we travelled back to our high school days — enjoying cream sodas, 80s idol music and manga, and remembering the small joys of those days.

OriOru will launch in mid-November.
The garments are now in the sewing stage.

Konnichiwa from Niigata, Japan. A lot's of 🌧 🌦. No farming, no rice harvest at the moment.

Instead of it, I do a bit of pieces, making kimono dresses, coordinating OriOru 折を織る project, admin and houschores(this is my main task here😅) ...

I have received the wonderful one-off items made of super antique kimonos, Tenugui tea towels, and Nobori banner flags from Keiko, Kakegawa, Shizuoka, Japan. So, I have just shipped it and will get there in the next 2 weeks.

3rd Styke is a super wide shirt. I tried. Actually settled well🫡

Since January, I’ve been spending most of my time back in Japan to support my parents. I want to sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by our shorter opening hours while I’ve been away.

I’m so grateful to Jimmy and all makers for doing such a wonderful job holding here, Cozy messy Grandma's house.I am truly filled with deep gratitude for the amazing staff and every single one of you, our wonderful customers. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Starting this Sunday, I’ll be heading back to my parents' home again to help out with household chores and the seasonal harvest. While I’m away, the shop will be in the very capable hands of Jimmy, Manami, Bonnie, Keiko, Sachiko, and Michella.

We would be so grateful for your continued support during this time. Looking forward to seeing you all again soon! I will be at shop this Sat, So it would be wonderful if you pop in🤗🙇‍♀️🙏💞

Cozy warm winter here!
Woodfired wares make us warm , and rich glazed colours make us calm down. Staying Donna's nature world in the morning, you feel you are in the bushland. Floral wares brings us early spring, Polarbear taking bath with warm Sake, Monstarts and cats will take us for Space travels😁👍
