Pure Joy last night at Cercles by Boris Charmatz / Terrain & STRUT.
It’s on again tonight 5.30-8.30. First hour audience can dance too 💃 🕺 oh yeah.

I’ve started working with a team to create some JOYFUL actions to oppose Alcoa this year- to bring us all together in ways that don’t overwhelm and this show is so inspiring in the way it brings community together.

The Aluminium Company of America is spreading across our landscape like a cancer, poisoning our landscapes and our drinking water and creating a future economic and environmental s**t show.

Alcoa, hands off.
It’s ours, not yours,

Let’s sing, walk, dance and talk Alcoa away in 2026 Reach out if you’re keen to volunteer in admin, research or production roles.

For those that don’t know, Gallium (a rare earth mineral used in weapons, phones and many other things) is being used as a reason to keep mining the northern Jarrah forest. Trump is keen for us to supply Gallium to America as the main supplier is currently China. Gallium is found where bauxite is found. But here is the thing, Bauxite is a common mineral found in many areas previously cleared. It’s safe to say, there is no necessity to mine the forests.

The recent gallium deal commits Australian taxpayers to subsidising Alcoa’s operations as part of a strategic minerals arrangement, and includes pressure to fast-track environmental assessments. A US mining company is, in effect, being paid to keep mining our forest faster. Alcoa doesn’t want to mine elsewhere away from their existing refineries and systems. It’s about money and power for America and Australians are being short changed- financially and environmentally.

Have you heard any of Alcoas misleading regen ads? Alcoa asserts that its rehab aims to reinstate ecosystem function, but scientific reviews describe the sites as failed. They are sad, silent and sickly.

In 2025, Australia’s advertising watchdog (Ad Standards) found that Alcoa made misleading claims about the success of its rehabilitation efforts.

The “Before and After”: The transformation involves stripping the soil and the bauxite substrate, replacing it with a simplified, often sparse, plantation of trees that struggle to create the necessary, complex habitat for native wildlife. In short: jarrah forest can’t rehabilitate without bauxite.

Head over to website for ways to take action and seize our moment in time to try and save what remains of this ancient and biodiverse slither of the world.
