"The singular use of olive-toned render unifies the exterior and interior, creating a feeling of immersion."⁠
Developed for Proclamation House through a long process of experiment and testing, the h**p render took the place of the concrete first imagined for the project. It saturates walls, ceilings and select floors alike, softening the distinction between landscape, facade and room. Alessandra French, as told to .⁠

Ara and Alessandra reflect on the thinking behind the practice. Each project carries its own narrative, shaped by site, context and the people it serves, with materiality, spatial planning, lighting and joinery resolved alongside the architecture rather than after it.

Adaptability in the plan, conviction in the palette.⁠

At 150, the planning is deliberately open to change, supporting evolving modes of work and the tenancies that may follow. The material response is anything but neutral: honeyed timber lining the walls, brushed stainless steel at the junctions, and colour in dusty plum and eucalyptus green, held deep against a constrained internal environment. For a client deeply engaged with art and design, professionalism and personality are resolved as one.⁠

At Rosewood, the original front rooms retain their proportion, ornament and sense of repose.⁠

Here, materiality establishes atmosphere: the woven texture of ochre grasscloth, the weight of full-height drapery, the richly figured marble of the fireplace surround. Colour is held deep and close, in oxblood and olive, so the room reads as a place of retreat within the wider home. Overhead, three sculpted shells unfurl from a stepped and fluted plaster medallion, completing the composition.⁠

At Rosewood, spaces for gathering unfold through subtle shifts in light, volume and enclosure.

Reclaimed timber flooring connects the kitchen, dining and living areas, while a restrained tonal palette brings continuity. Vaulted ceilings open the spaces above, balanced by the warmth of timber, the veining of marble and collected pieces that give the home its personal character.
