Yellowing on your leather lounge? 👀

Unfortunately, yellowing is often caused by personal care products building up on and staining the leather’s protective top coat over time. As these products continue to absorb and sit on the leather, the yellowing can become permanent and may become more noticeable as time passes.

Some of the most common culprits we see include sunscreen, moisturisers, self-tanning products, body oils and sweat.

Unfortunately, once the discoloration has penetrated into the leather, it won’t simply come out with a professional clean. In these cases, a color repair is generally required to restore the appearance.

We often get asked, “I have a dark lounge how can I tell if it needs a professional clean?”

This is a great question, and the easiest way to explain it is by looking at the images below. 👇

You can see the difference in color and finish. The uncleaned side looks a little “cloudy”, with a slightly duller appearance, while the cleaned side has a crisper color and much clearer, more defined grain.

Cleaning and conditioning your leather are vital parts of caring for your lounge and helping to extend its life.

46 years of love, life and use had certainly left its mark on this beautiful armchair! ❤️

Part of the chair had become discolored over the years, so we gave the whole chair love & color to bring it back to life and create a consistent finish.

We love being able to restore well-loved pieces like this rather than seeing them end up in landfill. After 46 years, this armchair definitely wasn’t ready for retirement! 🛋️✨
